I think the likability factor is being somewhat ignored in this election
When George W. Bush ran for President in 2000 people made an issue of how he was so much more likable than Al Gore. People were more interested in having a beer with him etc. I know there are issues that are much bigger but I don't think Rick Perry is even remotely as likable as people perceived Bush to be in 2000. That needs to be taken into account in analyzing the 2012 election to a certain extent.

1. That was my mother and Reagan -- she just liked him
SO MUCH (my father and I tried to tell her she was nuts. :7).

But that goes a long way. If I interview two people for a job and one is a little more qualified, I might hire the one who is a little less qualified because I LIKE him/her better.

2. True. Perry is a sleazy, dumber and more extreme version of Dubya.
Remember, he won the last election with about 38%, that's it. He certainly isn't a charmer.

3. Obama beats all Republicans on likeability
Huckabee could have given him a run for his money on that count, but he chose not to run.

4. likability isn't going to make anything better
we need people who will actually work to fix the issues.

6. who the heck thought George Bush was likable?
I thought he was a spoiled brat and huge asshole from the first time I heard of him.

Have a beer with him? Ick. He's the type of guy who tells casual acquaintances how many positions he porks his wife in.
