So Will We Then Bomb And Occupy Pakistan?
A 'credible' threat has been made to NYC and is said to be coming out of Pakistan, where our focus should have been. So what, will we cut off funds or worse if something does actually happen? Or is all this this a bid to stop any cuts to the military?

1. We don't seem to be gung ho on attacking countries with The Bomb.
Which is why I imagine many of these countries want it in the first place...

2. No, we (Obama) are already bombing Pakistan
That is why they hate us and that is why threats are coming from Pakistan (if true).

9. Bullshit
They've been the epicenter of international terrorism well before we launched drone attacks there - and well before 9/11 as well. I'm sick of this myth being perpetuated that the Pakistanis are poor victims of us.

6. I won't know until Obama speaks out on the matter..
And then of course my opinion is still subject to change depending on Obama's evolving position. ;)

5. What are you talking about we already bomb Pakistan regularly.
We even bombed them during their massive flooding disaster. Obama bombed Pakistan more in his first 9 months as president than Bush did in all 10 years.

7. Maybe they'll just check it out and be on alert and respond
accordingly.

Sometimes a cigar...

8. If a major attack is launched from Pakistan or any other nation ...
and causes a another 9-11 or worse, all bets are off.

My approach would be different from what we have done in the past.If there was absolutely no doubt that the attack originated from a nation and was accomplished by a terrorist organization:

1) I would inform the government of the nation that if they did EVERYTHING within their power to aid the United States to capture or destroy the terrorist organization, we would consider that nation our friend and would do as little damage to their nation as possible and rebuild it after the threat was eliminated.

2) However if the nation did not offer us their full support, we would do whatever was necessary to eliminate the threat and they could repair the damage to their nation at their own expense.

3) If they choose to resist our efforts by military force, we would use our power to put their nation back into the stone age and we would have absolutely no interest in rebuilding it.

4) We have absolutely no interest in nation building and we really don't give a shit what type of government they have. Our form of representative democracy may be successful in our nation but may not work in theirs and we are not interested in trying to change their form of government.

5) We have declared war on a terrorist organization and not on their nation unless they choose to defend the terrorists.

10. I would just tell them hey we murdered the rest of the world's children, why not yours?
You ever stop to think just how many children our tax dollars have slaughtered over the last 50 years. Millions?

11. Yes. That's why I hate many of the wars we have engaged in ...
during my life. Many of these wars did not involve an actual attack on our nation or our allies but were wars created for the profit of the military industrial complex.

On the other hand, we can not ignore actual attacks on our nation by terrorist organizations that are based in other nations. If we do, we will experience many more.

I feel our invasion of Afghanistan was justified but our invasion of Iraq was not.

What's your solution. You may have a far better one than mine.
