2. It isn't as much of a joke as we might like to believe!

I taught as a Visiting Professor for 1 year at Hope College which is a "Christian" college. To become a member of the faculty I had to tell the President in person that I was a "Christian". Now I would have more problems with saying that than I did then (10 years ago) but still I'm "Christian" in many respects.

OK - sorry I got distracted from my point. Hope College is actually fine - they accept evolution and the big bang cosmology without problem and with open minds. They advocate the teaching of modern science. But their rival is Calvin College in Grand Rapids Michigan. They don't accept evolution nor modern cosmology. The scientists in their department can't apply for grants because they are required to not accept certain fundamental laws of nature which would be assumed on the grants being made. Many of them are frustrated by this.

I am frightened to think about what the college students at Calvin are taught! Thank goodness for sane institutions like Hope College. At least they realize that they have to live in the real world!

4. The sad thing is, if Perry or another repuke gets in
then Calvin will get the last laugh, so to speak.
