The transfusions that supported me through my open heart surgery significantly lowered my glycosylated hemoglobin. I take no credit for that at all, and thank those whose great endocrine systems made my diabetic one look OK...for a month or so...

from the local hospital saying they had need for fresh A Neg (my type) for an accident victim. They wouldn't give me any details, but said it was a "lifesaver."
