Seattle PISaturday saw the largest turnout of Occupy Seattle protesters in the two weeks since the demonstration against corporate greed began. Union members and families joined the youthful gathering that has occupied Seattle’s Westlake Park.
Thousands marched to Bank of America Plaza where they chanted against the breaks they say are given to corporations by the Federal Government. At one point hundreds of demonstrators broke into a rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
“We got sold out, banks got bailed out,” many chanted as they marched along 4th Avenue. Some said they were first-time protesters, spurred by what they said is the direction our country is headed.
Marchers briefly occupied the intersection of 4th Avenue and Pike Street, blocking traffic and resulting in the arrest of two protesters that refused to move. Earlier in the week 25 protesters were arrested when they refused to move their tents from the park.
