Herman Cain: 'I Felt Like Moses' (VIDEO)
Edited on Sun Oct-09-11 10:27 PM by highplainsdem
Source: Huffington Post

"When they ask me who is the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan I’m going to say you know, I don’t know. Do you know?" he said.

-snip-

Cain explained that his top priorities are job creation and national security, not "knowing who is the head of some of these small insignificant states around the world."

The Republican hopeful also sounded off on his campaign's religious influences.

"I felt like Moses when God said I want you to go into Egypt and lead my people out," he said. "God has been in this since the beginning...there are certain things that happen along this journey that they couldn’t happen unless God was in it."

-snip-

8. Here's the IMPORTANT part ...
SNIP

Cain added that Uzbekistan was “insignificant” to U.S. national security interests:

"Knowing who is the head of some of these small insignificant states around the world — I don’t think that is something that is critical to focusing on national security and getting this economy going. When I get ready to go visit that country, I’ll know who it is. But until then, I want to focus on the big issues that we need to solve."

With U.S.-Pakistan tensions on the rise, the Obama administration is in discussions with Uzbekistan about increasing military supply routes to the U.S.-led Afghanistan war through the former-Soviet republic, whose authoritarian president — Islam Karimov — has some human rights issues.

Cain’s mocking and ignorance of Uzbekistan come at the tail end of a tough week for the former pizza chain CEO on foreign policy, even as his star slid up a notch in the Republican nomination contest.

I urge everyone here to read Murder in Samarkand (Dirty Diplomacy is the US title) by Craig Murray, former UK ambassador to Uz.

14. I feel sorry for the Republicans,
most of them are decent folks who probably squirm when they see guys like Cain vying for the candidacy in their party. At least with guys like Mitt Romney I can strongly disagree on ideological issues, but this guy is so dumb it's impossible.

15. Most of the nit-wits who vote for Republicans are probably decent people.
They're usually just clueless about what they're voting for. I know many who truly are decent people. But Republican candidates for national office would have to be corrupt and rotten to the core to get anywhere in today's GOP.

16. Fair is fair. I'll vote for Cain when he parts the Red Sea.

If he feels like Moses, he's not that far from being a cult leader. He'll be like electing David Koresh.

For every Israel there's an Egypt. Which one will America be?

17. From the link

Herman Cain: “God’s been in this from the beginning because when I first started to feel that I needed to consider running I did a lot of praying. I felt like Moses when God said I want you to go into Egypt and lead my people out. Moses resisted. I resisted. Moses said you got the wrong person. You can’t be talking about me. I had these conversations with God in terms of, ‘Lord I’ve done a lot of things but are you sure’ but you shouldn’t question God. You should just make sure that’s the message. God has been in this since the beginning and my staff and I we say that all the time. There are certain things that happen along this journey that they couldn’t happen unless God was in it. I know that for a fact because of my life long faith.”

I am going to take Cain at his word because the irony of this guy's name just is too good to be true and if you work on the premise that Yahweh was in on Cain's campaign from the begining it simply confirms my long standing observation that YHWH is endowed with an outstanding sense of humor and this is one of the greatest set ups in history. Republican Party you just been punked by God.

18. Race to the bottom, Herman!
Clearly, he feels knowledge is over-rated. Obviously, it was unfair of people to expect Palin to know the names of heads of state around the world, or where countries were located, or even what issues affect the global community at large. So he's therefore planning on giving a "who the fuck cares" answer to anyone who asks him such questions. To bask in one's self-righteous ignorance is the epitome of what it means to be an American!

I mean, come on -- everyone knows important things only happen in America. And any country with -stan on the end of it is unpronounceable and insignificant. Plus, you don't need to know the names of their leaders when you bomb them anyway.

Really, Herman? Really? Your candidacy is an insult to the people of this country, especially to those who actually support you.

P.S. Moses didn't worship false idols, Herman, so your completely non-egostical comparison is already faulty.
