Open Letter to that 53% Guy
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/10/12/1025555/-Open-Letter-to-that-53-Guy

snip...

Do you really want to spend the rest of your life working two jobs and 60 to 70 hours a week? Do you think you can? Because, let me tell you, kid, that’s not going to be as easy when you’re 50 as it was when you were 20.

And what happens if you get sick? You say you don’t have health insurance, but since you’re a veteran I assume you have some government-provided health care through the VA system. I know my father, a Vietnam-era veteran of the Air Force, still gets most of his medical needs met through the VA, but I don’t know what your situation is. But even if you have access to health care, it doesn’t mean disease or injury might not interfere with your ability to put in those 60- to 70-hour work weeks.

Do you plan to get married, have kids? Do you think your wife is going to be happy with you working those long hours year after year without a vacation? Is it going to be fair to her? Is it going to be fair to your kids? Is it going to be fair to you?

...snip

Long, but worthwhile read.

2. A good response to a short-sighted ill-conceived opinion piece.
These stupid rants rarely stand up to even the most rudimentary scrutiny.

3. The 53% twit has completely surrendered in life
Edited on Thu Oct-13-11 07:52 AM by SpiralHawk
He puts his miserable 70-hour a week servitude up on a pedestal, as if it were a virtue. He has swallowed the entire vat of kool aid, and now merrily (along with the other Fox-inhaling Suckers and Sheep) he wants to turn back the clock a few centuries to a very dark time of Meek Peasantry.

But meek, smirking servitude, advocated by this Republicon dupe, is nothing to be proud of. It is, rather, a shameful, cowering stance toward life (R).

Mr. 53% is advocating that we be Happy Smirky Proles, whistling while we work our 70-hour stints, and then just meekly STFU about it.

4. The 53% man's sign is a tale told by an idiot signifying nothing
Shakespeare had that man's ilk pegged long before he was born.

5. I haven't been keeping up on the latest teabagger memes. What is a 53-percenter?
I hope they aren't suggesting that they are in the majority; that would be laughable.

8. It's an ill conceived RNC counter message that tries to infer 53% of the 99% pay federal taxes
Edited on Thu Oct-13-11 09:54 AM by Old and In the Way
and thus have nothing in common with the 47% who don't. Erick Erickson, a professional RNC dickhead, tries to make the case that he works 3 "jobs" (runs a crappy blog, has a RW radio gig, and CNN gives him airtime to spew his BS)...he can't afford health insurance and he can't sell his house, but we should all shut up and stop whining and let the status quo continue. Of course, other idiots have glommed on to this as somehow representative of their views. But almost all of the people who include their mini-autobiographies underscore the point that they are all part of the 47%er's - unemployed, students, housewives, etc.

Here's a sampling of these messages where the point is made that effectively exposes the idiocy of their messages-

6. It makes sense to us but the righties will never get it...
As studies recently published demonstrate, they have a different emphasis deep im their brain, in the primitive section called the amygdala, where responses are highly emotional. (Funny, considering how they always think they are the more logical ones.) They are so strongly motivated by this emotional reaction that they cannot let go of the world view that they have embraced. You can present them with rational arguments, you can offer authoritative sources and facts, you can try sweet talking them but they will not change their minds. I have examined this phenomenon for years and have found no approach that works.

13. Yes, it's true. Ayn Rand (R) spent her final time sucking up 'Socialist' Benefits

from the very government she had been demeaning and shitting upon for years.

That kinda rank hypocrisy is a core Right-wing Family Value.
