The next time a Republican presidential candidate decides to use Chris Hayes’ words and twists them, they better be prepared for him to notice.
The MSNBC host recognized that the Rick Perry campaign used his words from an episode of The Last Word in an attack ad on Mitt Romney’s health care history. In the Perry ad, Hayes uses the word “Obamacare” as a linkage to “RomneyCare.”
The only problem with that is the Perry campaign editing out a key portion of Hayes calling the health reform bill by its official name, “The Patient Potential and Affordable Care Act,” and referencing how Republicans preferring to call it “Obamacare” instead of Hayes himself. That action lead to Hayes on his show Saturday morning willingly offering four lines for any Republican candidate who decides to use his words to strengthen their attack ads.
“One, Rick Perry’s decision to let illegal immigrants in Texas to pay in-state tuition was compassionate, just and humane, it’s the kind of program us liberals love,” he said. Number two, Michelle Bachmann is right, crony capitalism is a keystone liberal issue, and I Chris Hayes at MSNBC applaud her for taking that up.”
