Herman Cain admits "some people will pay more" under 9-9-9
"That’s right. Some people will pay more," Cain told David Gregory of NBC’s Meet the Press. "But most people will pay less, that’s my argument."

Asked by Gregory who will pay more, Cain said, "The people who spend more money on new goods. The sales tax only applies to people who buy new goods, not used goods. That's a big difference that doesn’t come out."

When asked how his plan might affect a poor widowed mother with a newborn infant Cain replied, "She can buy used milk and used diapers. She can get them cheaper and won't have to pay any sales tax. It's win-win. Everybody wins with 999."

5. Forgive my ignorance. What exactly is used milk? Will Mr. Cain be willing to drink used milk?

What are used diapers? Must not be the disposable kind.
Won't the large corporations that make disposable diapers be upset?

13. People... it's a joke, okay?
No he didn't really say that. It's just my way of dealing with the frustration of having to put up with no one putting Cain's feet to the fire on this.

Under Cain's plan the poorest among us are catapulted to the highest income bracket, while the richest among us would sudden;y find themselves miraculously in the lowest. It's all about the percentage of income that is paid in taxes and as the poor have to spend ALL of their income just to survive and the rich maybe only have to spend anywhere from, oh, say .005% to 20%, and we ALL have to pay 9% on income, the poor end up paying the highest percentage of their income in taxes. It is simple arithmetic, but the brain-dead buffoons who play footsie with Cain in the media are not calling him out on this.

This is just my way of bringing it to SOMEONE'S attention. Thank you for reading it!

15. He could say the 99's will pay more taxes under 999..
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 12:26 AM by EC
That would make it the 99999 plan.

And babies don't drink milk, let alone there not being such a thing as used milk (it's called baby puck), they drink formula, which isn't cheap.

17. Does he admit that the 1% will pay zero?
The non-working rich who live on capital gains. Cain's 999 plan eliminates capital gains taxes. This has been true in every flat tax plan I have seen. We pay 9% plus the 9% passed onto us by businesses.

18. One thing that nobody has mentioned about this is how it will crash the economy in general
Forget who pays more or less under this plan. Focus on this, with a sales tax on consumption, people will stop buying things. Since we are a consumption based economy, the sudden dearth of consumer spending will kill this economy.

20. Cain was a Fair Tax advocate for years
Why the mainstream press doesn't ask him why he changed is as we know too difficult for the main stream press to do. Furthermore why no one is asking him about his planned genocide comment about Planned prenthood is beyond the pale.
