Woman mistakenly texts drug deal to deputy
North Carolina woman found herself behind bars last week after mistakenly texting a sheriff’s deputy a drug deal message.
The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said Amy Leigh Brown, 35, sent Deputy P.V. Alkire a text stating, “Hey it’s Amy. Do you want business tonight?”
The McDowell News reported that Alkire did not recognize the number, but he texted Brown back that she should meet him at a nearby truck stop.
Brown also allegedly texted the deputy that she had some “bones,” which is street slang for the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam, sold commercially as Xanax, the newspaper reported.
Alkire went to the truck stop and confronted Brown, who was the passenger in a car. She denied sending the texts and deleted the messages from her phone. Alkire then called the number the texts were sent from, and Brown’s phone rang, the sheriff’s office told the newspaper.
