Thoughts while weeding - about percentages. I decided I am in the zero percent -
Zero is the percentage of my belief that:

We the people can truly break from our TV induced apathy and have the courage and stick-to-it-ness to actually effect change (I truly hope I am wrong on this)

The MSM gives a shit at all about us. They are so far above and removed, and feel so protected and safe, that they serve only their corporate masters.

ANY politician of either major party understands or truly cares about us. Again - they feel special, they feel protected - change will not come easily, or at all.

Something is going to have to change. Our current political system no longer works and serves us effectively. The current financial system no longer works. Something else is needed....but there won't be the will to effect real change until the shit really, really hits the fan (something else I hope I am wrong about).

Reading the NY Times Sunday paper - the week in review section, how our country no longer has climate change on its radar - as well as a few other stories, convinced me that we are pretty much screwed- not just us, but people in general. something's gotta give.....this is a horrendous trajectory we are on, we who inhabit this planet. We just don't seem to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time - every shiny new object chases out important, yet to be resolved issues - well before they are resolved. We are intellectually lazy.

OK - it was quite a weeding session, but that's what was running through my brain... back to our cheery lives - but this typically optimistic person is not finding much to be optimistic about these days (despite the impressive nature of the OWS efforts.....).

1. Ummmm......
I share many of your thoughts - and I too need to do some weeding.

I don't think I am capable of it but somedays I aspire to apathy. It would be far easier to be ignorant and unconcerned.

2. Humans are smart. If we can text and drive, then we can certainly walk and chew gum.

3. Change will come
given the economic maelstrom brewing and soon to bear down on us.
Awakening becomes commonplace as the TV, induced apathy and the electric grid begin to flicker and making news becomes cheaper than watching it.
Keep weeding that patch.
