OWS is merely a social safety valve as we continue our decent.......
Wish it could be more, but I'm pretty sure it's just a case of "well, at least someone is doing SOMETHING" no matter how ineffectual to the larger issue.

Sadly, data doesn't lie :(

"You must get over these fancies," said the guide, "for I have brought you here that you might have the best possible view of the scene of that event I mentioned --and to tell you the whole story with the spot just under your eye." Poe

4. Things have to get alot worse before OWS has any effect.
When Americans are openly starving instead of being hidden. When larger share of people are forced to make real choices about life or death only then might we see change. I think the middle class still thinks it's immune.

5. The protesters are trying to show
that Americans ARE openly starving. openly homeless, openly broke, and openly exhausted from working themselves to death for peanuts. Corporate media is doing everything it can, even flat out lying, to keep these pictures from the masses. The protesters are saying "we are here, angry, right in front of you! Ignore us and you will have Greece part II"

3. There's a difference between "decent" and "descent"
Edited on Thu Oct-20-11 03:58 AM by Divernan
But I take your point. However, I'm willing to give the OWS movement some time to see how this all plays out. The continuing downward descent of the US economy may actually strengthen the OWS.

Or, if you are correct, they are functioning as a Greek Chorus.

6. Pay no attention to the OWS movement
It was created by communistic outside-agitators organized by far-left democrats. :sarcasm:

8. I wish. At least about the communistic part
Far left Dems only obscure the problem and the solutions by looking to "reform" a system that's outlived it's usefulness.

7. Safety valves = Reforming an unjust economic system, rather than eradicating it. nt

10. Will you still be holding this position after July 4, 2012 (date of
a proposed National Assembly to convene in Philadelphia, PA).

You might want to read up a bit on the French Revolution, specifically the 'Tennis Court Oath.'
