Why use a credit union?
Among the obvious reason, how about ours just sent us a $50 gift card to Wegmans grocery stores because our account was selected at random as a client appriciation effort...

Last year my father was selected for two Buffalo Bills football tickets.

2. my husband earns dividends on his account. they pay him!! And they are very nice
there too. Not that the tellers and my m&t bank aren't very nice. when he pays interest on his loans through there, he as a member is benefiting from that.

5. For me... it's because as a member I own the place
Now I would like to see my electric company organized as a cooperative as well... like I used to have.

I think this would be a good idea for my phone/internet provider as well...

6. If you don't like them, you can join the board and fix it.
This is maybe harder if you join a giant national one.
