So... The World Series Is On As Background Noise... But I Hear This...
Albert Pujols will have the opportunity to be on the "Open Market" next year.

And this seems to be of some concern to the boys in the booth.

Now forgetting, if you will, the ridiculous amount of value society puts on sports figures, as opposed to teacher, cops, nurses, etc...

Playing THEIR game... why would an open, or FREE, market be of any concern to the capitalist monied interests???

I mean... shouldn't Pujols get whatever the market says it can bare???

Here's the story of another man, who changed the world of sports... and the rest of us.

Who owns who/whom...

And tell me again about the "Free Market"???

1. Bread and Circuses...
Everything's a commodity these days; sports, players, even holidays.

Sad...

3. Say what you will about the reserve clause
it kept salaries down to reasonable levels, and by extension, ticket prices.

Free agency has destroyed countless good teams because the management didn't have the money to keep the team together, and they were outbid by the Yankees.

5. So... You Think Indentured Servitude Is a Good Thing ???
The money was going to go to ONE of TWO places...

The player's hand, or the owner's hands.

And yeah... you could have kept the salaries down, and the ticket prices down... if we had just given all the extra value/money to the owners.

Still doesn't sound Free Market to me.

6. I read somewhere that leaving radios or TVs on for background noise raises blood pressure.
Don't remember where I read it but it was several years ago.

For what it's worth. :)
