Angel Soft toilet paper... Now with 50% more air, FREE! (And 50% less of that pesky paper)
The Kochroaches at Koch Industries must have been getting a lot of complaints after enlarging the diameter of the core in their toilet paper to a ridiculous and very obvious size. They went back to the original size core but then they were faced with the age old dilemma; How do we give our customers a lot less product at the same price whilst tricking the customer into thinking they're getting the same amount?

The answer:
Wind the paper really loosely on the roll.

Top: Angel Soft
Bottom: Another brand of "quilted" toilet paper

And what's with the bluish color all of a sudden?
I'll also add that the width of the roll looks like it's about .25" narrower than it used to be and it's certainly narrower than the other roll.

I don't normally buy Angel Soft anymore but the grocery store was giving out coupons in the store. After the coupon, a 12 pack was $2 so I couldn't resist. I thought that was a good deal until I got home. Now I feel like I got ripped off!!! :evilfrown:

5. I buy Scott's no frills hard ass tp.
Sorry, I can't remember which type, but it is absolutely not fluffy.
Lasts pretty well, too.
Please tell me if I can do better. I don't have any corn cobs around.

8. Scott's really lasts. I did an experiment and figured that 84 large rolls
Would last the two of us a whole year. We are retired and most of our business is done at home.

Seven of the 12roll pack.

14. That's why I don't buy it because is not soft.
Scott is liking wiping with newspaper. Sorry, but I like the soft and fluffy stuff. My local Kroger and Ingles supermarkets have their store brands at a great price and they are soft and fluffy.

18. I discovered it's somewhat softer...
If I make up a spray solution to spray on it before use.

I buy No Rinse Body Bath and mix it about 1:4 with water and keep it in a spray bottle in the bathroom.

Then I just spray the tp before use. It cleanses and makes the tp feel soft and costs less than those pre-moistened wipes.

Just a suggestion. :)

22. Scott's has changed, within the past year. It is no longer the bargain it used to be.
Edited on Mon Oct-24-11 12:18 AM by woo me with science
The rolls are significantly narrower, and they disappear faster than they used to. I noticed it immediately because of how it looks on the hanger, and also because I am needing to buy more often these days than I ever did before.

I switched to our grocery store brand, which was essentially a copy of the original Scott 1000-sheet TP (similar label and everything). Lo and behold, within a few weeks, those rolls were also downsized. I suspect they come from the same factory.

I still buy Scott because I can't find a replacement that is better, but they are definitely doing the same misleading redesign as other brands.

.
.
.
As an aside, I am annoyed by the recent spate of TP commercials that feature serious, thoughtful women discussing what they "really want" in a toilet paper. They emphasize how important it is that the TP give a good clean and not leave pieces, and be absorbent, etc., etc.

For the life of me, I have never walked out of the bathroom with that level of concern about the absorbency or weave of my toilet tissue. It is TOILET PAPER, for god's sake, and all the major brands seemed to work just fine. What I want is value. For many years, Scott offered that. Now I am paying more for less and also getting a smarmy lecture about how I really wanted this change.

With Angel Soft or Soft and gentle a person has to dust their bathroom every day. Plus, it makes me sneeze.

17. We should be using water for cleansing that area anyway
http://www.amazon.com/Saria-bidet-spray-converts-toilet/dp/B000E4OVC0

Paper does not get you clean. When I was deployed all the establishments we visited had bathrooms with a hose attachment.

I make sure I drink my hot coffee, do my thing, and jump in the shower! Otherwise I would be running around with a stinky butt. Cheaper than toilet paper.

21. If I didn't have a superfussy roommate
I'd still only be aware of two toilet-paper brands:

1) Dollar Store Across the Street

and

2) Stolen From Work.

Now I buy the brand she's fixated on when it's my turn to buy, just to avoid drama. (SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE OMG!)

Thanks for telling me which brands are Koch, though! Not the one she likes, thank God.

28. A little unsolicited advice....
I hear you on the outrageous cost of ass wipes. I only buy them when they are on sale and I have a coupon--just like I do with pretty much everything. And, usually that is only at stores that double the coupons (if they are under the doubling limit). There are a few sites out there that match up weekly store sales with the coupons that are out there, such as CouponMom.com and SouthernSavers.com. They even link to printable coupons. You can save not only the drama, but a little bit of money.

because that thick stuff is like sandpaper and it would clog up the toilet plus it's a waste of paper and money. x(

34. But don't you just end up having to use twice as much thereby using the same amount of paper?
It's like those low-flow toilets that use 1/3 of the water when you flush them.
That would be great if they didn't have to be flushed 3 times more to get it all down the tubes.

2. It doesn't shred apart when I use it.

Everything else is superfluous.

Edited on Mon Oct-24-11 07:17 AM by Tracer
it matters what TP I use!

I always bought Scotts regular because it disintegrated in the bowl and theoretcally wont clog up the septic tank.

Now Scotts seems to have changed it's paper formula:

There is "Extra Soft" and "Stronger", both of which I've bought by mistake.

They are awful and don't "melt". Unfortunately, I have a Costco-sized stash of the "Stronger".

30. Now I'm even more glad I try to stick to the recycled brands
And, no, I don't mean the toilet paper itself is recycled, you smartasses. :-) Although, I wouldn't put something like that past the Koch brothers.

I get Marcal brand when I have a coupon, but usually, I just get the store brand "recycled" paper from my local Publix grocery store. I think Kroger may have just come out with a house brand that is made of mostly recycled paper. Scott's "Naturals" is also mostly made from recycled paper. They all have paper towels, too. I tend not to use much paper towels, but I rarely buy the kind that is from fresh wood.

I also buy the recycled publix brand pretty often. It's good stuff and usually cheaper than the non-recycled "super soft".
I don't see Marcal there however.
