EXCLUSIVE: ACORN Playing Behind Scenes Role in 'Occupy' Movement
Edited on Wed Oct-26-11 11:08 PM by TomCADem
Source: Fox News

The former New York office for ACORN, the disbanded community activist
group, is playing a key role in the self-proclaimed “leaderless”
Occupy Wall Street movement, organizing “guerrilla” protest events and
hiring door-to-door canvassers to collect money under the banner of
various causes while spending it on protest-related activities,
sources tell FoxNews.com.

The former director of New York ACORN, Jon Kest, and his top aides are
now busy working at protest events for New York Communities for Change
(NYCC). That organization was created in late 2009 when some ACORN
offices disbanded and reorganized under new names after undercover
video exposes prompted Congress to cut off federal funds.

NYCC’s connection to ACORN isn’t a tenuous one: It works from the
former ACORN offices in Brooklyn, uses old ACORN office stationery,
employs much of the old ACORN staff and, according to several sources,
engages in some of the old organization’s controversial techniques to
raise money, interest and awareness for the protests.

Sources said NYCC has hired about 100 former ACORN-affiliated staff
members from other cities – paying some of them $100 a day - to attend
and support Occupy Wall Street. Dozens of New York homeless people
recruited from shelters are also being paid to support the protests,
at the rate of $10 an hour, the sources said.

This Fox News story is only notable in that it exposes Fox's ongoing corporate funded propaganda campaign to minimize the effect and impact of the 99 percent movement and to mobilize right wingers to engage in whatever means necessary to stop them. After the talking point that the OWS movements were being organized by Soros, who is himself part of the top 1 percent, Fox News is pulling out the Acorn talking points.

Also, CNN is following Fox by now posting stories about the so-called 53 percent movement, which is nothing more than a long time right wing blogger who is declaring himself to be part of the hidden 53 percent who support Wall Street, but hate the Democrats and President Obama.

This is pure propaganda, yet watch this "exclusive story" start being pushed by the corporate media in the days to come.

22. I'm waiting for them to blame invaders from outer space
If Fox reported it, half the Republicans in the country would be convinced it is true.

fox was instrumental in getting members of our esteemed democratic party to defund ACORN. i guess those folks who are now out of work need something to do, so why not help organize OWS?

12. yeah my tea party dad and I had a fuss over this BS.
can't believe he buys it. one link says Fox admits it's from an unverified source. hey Dan Rather tried that and got fired for it. Who's guessing anyone at Fox is gonna get fired over using unverified sources. First inckling I had that dad had bought into another FOX BS story that isn't backed up by facts was on the marine injury shooting. saying I'd been drinking the acorn kool aid again and that the incident never happened. X_X gotta watch out for brainwashed Fox News Viewers. Unfortunately... :( they'll be taken out without a fight like Frogs waiting in hot water till they die in the water.
