Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?
1980: Ronald Reagan runs for president, promising a balanced budget

1981 - 1989: With support from congressional Republicans, Reagan runs enormous deficits, adds $2 trillion to the debt.

1993: Bill Clinton passes economic plan that lowers deficit, gets zero votes from congressional Republicans.

1998: U.S. deficit disappears for the first time in three decades. Debt clock is unplugged.

Just thought it would be good to share history with everyone because unlike Republicans we don't make it up. :)

1. GOP: deficits are better than taxes
The Republicans hate taxes so much that thay prefer to kill this country by smothering it in debt. If any of them were to find out how high taxes were under Eisenhower, they would faint. They have been so successful in their fight against taxes that the Democrats could never raise them as high as they should be because the ignorant voters would throw them out of office. Until taxes are raised this country will continue its downhill spiral. How anybody could take Perry and Cain serious shows how far we have fallen. Thank you Grover Norquist.

2. Deficits are not a concern right now.
I have no idea why progressives fall into this trap.

Clinton caused a recession by eliminating the deficit. We will have a far worse depression on our hands when we attempt to do the same now.

3. deficits
The Republicans, unfortunately, have determined the terms of the debate. THey yell: deficits, deficits, recession, we need to cut taxes to give the job creators the resources to create jobs. Americans have ay forgotten that taxes used to be much higher on the wealthy and the economy boomed. Ploos say that a great majority want higher taxes on the wealthy, but then the voters vote for teabaggers who say taxes aare too high.
