A note to my local cops
We love you and we're concerned for your safety. So let me tell you something. You know this to be very true. You were already sick of chasing the radio. You have not gotten new hires because there is no money. Your pensions are at risk. I mean Councilman DeMaio really wants to destroy the system the city promised you when you signed up.
It gets worst, you are the worst paid urban PD in the state. You know this to be the case. And your police cars don't have up to date gear to protect you, such as cameras, since we can't even afford the city tow trucks when your transmission goes, and you know I speak the truth.

Well now the city is purposely putting you at further risk. While a significant number of your brothers and sisters are harassing peaceful protestors, what do I hear last night over dispatch? One of your own was facing a 51-50 and no backup anywhere to be found.

Now I understand a few of you will blame the dirty hippies downtown when somebody inevitably gets hurt or killed. The blame is with city hall. They are exercising those first amendment rights you took an oath to defend so you can keep your pensions, and for god sake, your patrol car does not lose it's transmission and there is no tow truck, and for you to get what you need.

We love you. We are really concerned for your safety, but you are also on the chopping block. That is a reality from recent history.

All I can say to you is truly watch your back when you respond to real calls. That backup might not be there. We really don't want to have another officer funeral. And you know I am not lying...

(For people not up to date with code, mental patient)

1. I suspect that is true of most urban police departments who are
being asked to target protesters instead of real crimes. They make the police doing the really dangerous work more vulnerable by making peaceful demonstrators their focus of their department.

Thank you for highlighting what can and does happen. Their job is to fight real crime not stop freedom of speech.

2. Yeah but this is way too specific to local cops
The rolling wrecks that pass for police squads are in worst shape than their counterparts down south...where it was tradition for rolling wrecks.
