Rep. Ellison: "Alan Grayson is a Proud, Fearless Progressive"
Yesterday, the Grayson for Congress campaign launched its “Nov. 6 Money Bomb – 1 Year Until Victory.” Joining us for that launch is Representative Keith Ellison, the Co-Chair of the House Progressive Caucus. Here is Congressman Ellison’s message to you...

My name is Congressman Keith Ellison, and I want to tell you about a good friend of mine, Alan Grayson.
I was proud to serve in Congress with Alan Grayson for the one term he was there. I was very disappointed when he had to leave, in that very, very difficult 2010 election. I hope he can return, because he is an excellent partner, and a proud, fearless progressive who believes in core American values. Like the right of the middle class to have a chance at a good life; a prosperous life too.

He did a lot of things to advance that cause. One of the most important things he did was to introduce legislation to allow everybody – everybody -- to be able to buy into Medicare. I thought that was a brilliant idea, and I think our country would be better off if we would have it today.

He was a tireless, busy legislator, who never stopped believing that the best days of America were ahead, because he was hopeful and he was optimistic. And because Alan Grayson stood up for the American working and middle classes, he drew a lot of heat. People like Bill O’Reilly sent trackers after him.

Sarah Palin came into his district to campaign against him. People like Glenn Beck stood up to throw mud at him. And a number of the Right Wing’s more well-known, and not-so-well-known, went after him, and dumped money into that district to try to defeat Alan Grayson.

But Alan Grayson is rising again. Alan Grayson is not going to be held down. Alan Grayson is as committed to the principles of a prosperous, generous America as he has ever been. And he’s going to come back strong once more.

Alan Grayson -- who won a seat in which Democrats had been held away from office for 34 years -- after losing that seat in 2010, he is poised to return. But he needs your help to do it.

So please stand up for Alan Grayson, as he has stood up for the American middle and working classes.

Stood up for peace.

Stood up for clean elections.

Stood up for tax equity.

Stood up for accountability with the Federal Reserve.

Alan Grayson. He can come back. He can come back, if you will support him.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Rep. Keith Ellison
