The ACLU is going after county officials in MN for restrictions on OWS!
The American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota is asking Hennepin County to rescind new restrictions on OccupyMN protesters.

The ACLU-MN says it believes the restrictions violate the protesters' First Amendment rights.

Under the new restrictions, protesters at the Hennepin County Government Center Plaza will have to consolidate their possessions and can't leave them unattended or they'll be taken.

Signs will not be allowed to be taped to plaza property. And for the first time, overnight sleeping won't be allowed once significant snow falls or the temperature falls below 25 degrees.

1. So the moderate Commissioners are trumping Progressive City leaders
Since the occupation is on the Hennepin County property,, the Conservative Sheriff and Commissioners are able to get rid of the Occupation off Hennepin County property.

It is gonna be a showdown. How strong is the DFL leadership and can they get the conservative majority Commisoners to back down ?

2. I wonder what would happen if the occupation moved
from the Government Center plaza to some city-owned property? I can't think of any city property that's comparable to the Gov't Center, though.

4. "consolidate their possessions and can't leave them unattended or they'll be taken."
I suppose that this also covers abandoned police cars. I mean, rules are rules, right?

Go ACLU!
