Gov. Scott Walker creates "The Office of Regulatory Compliance" Office.
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 12:59 PM by Ellipsis
Walker issued an executive order Wednesday creating the Office of Regulatory Compliance. The office would accept agencies' rule scope statements and economic impact studies and inform agencies of whether their proposals have the green light.

Walker's order also details what information must be included in scope statements and economic impact studies.

The governor's spokesman says existing Walker employees will run the office and the governor won't hire anyone new to man it.

The Republican governor signed a bill earlier this year that gives him the power to approve or deny administrative rule proposals. Administrative rules enact state laws, but Republicans have complained agencies' rules often go beyond the scope of the statutes.

2. No new staff will be required by the State because the ...
.. employees approving these rules will work for either Geobic Mining or Koch Industries.

4. So Walker's political policy wonks will green light everything...the Bad River strip Mine
This is total over-reaching and probably unconstitutional.

the Penokee Iron Mine project looks to strip a seven mile chunk of earth in the Bad River watershed.

10. I think and hope you're right that it is unconstitutional.

Yeah I know the proposed mine site.

They are trying to fast track it... I don't think that's going to fly even if it's for a supposed 900 jobs. Short sighted.

9. Ahh, the name of something that sounds to good to be true.
You can almost bet that this is the office of de-regulatory compliance. Anything that attempts to force industry to act in a responsible manner will be seen as too costly.
