We are going to have to present the government with an ultimatum:
Either Congress passes a comprehensive Constitutional Amendment, written by the 99%, that takes all the money games out of politics and government forever, or we non-violently shut commerce down until they do. We unquestionably have the collective power to do so.

A Constitutional Amendment of this nature is a matter of life and death to our survival as a nation. It is absolutely critical to the survival of democracy in America.

If we have to shut the country down and the government continues to refuse to accede to the wishes of the People, an alternative will arise that insures that the will of the People gets done on the terms of the People.

This is not negotiable.

It's far too late to be fruitlessly dinking around with courts and bogus laws and a bogus legislative system made by the 1% for the 1%. The system has become so foolish and shameful a parody of democracy that it could be a Monte Python film.

There is no other possible way for us to attain democratic government, unless we create a wholly new government independent of existing government, which most probably would take a great deal of time, time we may not have, to establish.

Congress will never, never, never, pass a foolproof/loophole proof Constitutional Amendment of this nature unless we force them to by direct action.

It's totally up to us, right here, right now, no second chances.

We either use the key being forged by Anonymous and the OWS movement, or we agree to accept the chains of the 1%.

(This post is solely my personal opinion, I am not speaking for OWS, Anonymous, or any other group, although there may be some that agree with this opinion to a large extent).

Peace

12. I agree...elections are a joke at this point...
...and they only serve as an entire year of manufactured drama--used as a ploy to further
divide our nation into bitter camps--as the politicians and their corporate partners in crime
steal our democracy.

Seriously. I'm sure people have a tough time giving up the dream--that we do have a democracy, and
that votes mean something. It's all a travesty.

The corporations own our politicians and our government. The banks hold positions of power in every
administration--and they dictate, from inside our government--how they will be deregulated and pilfer
trillions from "We The People" and from the economy. The health-insurance magnates have railroaded
any chance at a national healthcare system--and now we're the only Westernized country on the planet
that relies on a profit-centric model of healthcare--that is killing people and bankrupting them.
The oil companies and energy companies are destroying the environment without consequence--while the
people eat poisoned seafood and light their tap water on fire. Big Pharma sells drugs that kill us
and cause serious harm--and they've been able to do this by buying off our politicians and placing
industry cronies inside the FDA. Big Ag has poisoned our food with the help of bribed politicians
who vote according to how Monsanto and others wish.

It's all a complete scam. Democrats...Republicans...they're all in on it. Elections mean nothing.
Election slogans mean nothing. The system has rotted to the core. Our elected representatives
no longer represent us.

Another election, with corporate-backed friendlies--isn't going to change one damn thing. And I sure
as hell don't want to stand by--listening to divisive partisan rhetoric and lie-based promises for the
next 11 months. We need to unite and change the system.

Anything else is wasted time, and only gives the corporations more opportunity to corrupt this nation.

15. Democrats are better than republicans. Those two are our only choices.
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 03:06 PM by Zorra
At least voting for and electing Democrats will buy us some time to get done what needs to be done.

Republicans are far more likely to throw us in prison and slaughter us in the streets, IMO.

17. It is the system not the individual politicans currently in D.C.
We could replace ALL of them and with the system we have in place right now the status quo would still be maintained.

We're going to have to change the system with the conservatives help. They want the special interests influences to be eliminated as well. We need to put our issues aside until the system is changed or our issues and interests will NEVER be addressed.

9. I totally agree.

I believe that this is what needs to be done after we reach critical mass.

The reason that I posted this is because I have been floating this idea to all kinds of people, and they all agreed that a Constitutional Amendment of this nature is a good idea.

It is a thing that many people recognize as necessary, and they can get behind it.

It is a means, I believe, of gaining support and more rapidly attaining critical mass.

And many people in other countries as well.

7. Good luck with that. I agree, but it won't happen, or if it does begin
we've stupidly let our gov't become too strongly armed to defeat. Now with drones around they don't even need a dedicated force of people, just a few to set behind anonymous screens pushing anonymous buttons that really kill people.

Has it really gotten to that point?

14. I hope not, but fear so. And as evidenced by the past three years,
hope isn't a very good position these days, reality seems to overpower it pretty quickly.

16. Zorra, I stand with you. The gloves and masks are coming off, it is clearly "people vs. corp"...
No middle ground, no playing nice. It's war. Unfortunately most of the 99% still don't realize they are under attack.

18. The 99% is coming around.
Most of them are just becoming aware of the primary reason that the country is in such a mess.

Control of government and society by the 1%.

19. your description falls short IMHO
it is a matter of survival of the human species. Controlling greenhouse gasses, preventing privatization of water supplies, providing sustainable manufacturing and agriculture all demand that money be removed from the political equation entirely.

Do or do not, there is no try.

20. We have all got to go all in
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 05:46 PM by MedleyMisty
All humans who are capable of it must go all in against these monsters if we want the planet to survive. I'm willing to die for it. Better to die free than to live for whatever short time we would have left in their chains.

21. We really do.
If we don't stop them relatively soon, they will continue to gain power and will take repressive measures that will prevent us from ever being able to challenge their control.

Democracy will become extinct.
