Ask yourself that question next time you need a new car.

2. I unrecommended this post
Edited on Tue Nov-08-11 09:25 PM by catabryna
I see no reason to pit one worker against another. It does work both ways in this instance.

eta: lest there be any misunderstanding, I am a strong union supporter.

7. They are scabs if they cross a picket line...
these folks didn't cross a picket line to get their jobs. I've never been a member of a union. How dare you call me a scab! (I'm sure you didn't mean that). :hippie:

10. Scab is a worker who refuses to join a labor union
a : a contemptible person b (1) : a worker who refuses to join a labor union (2) : a union member who refuses to strike or returns to work before a strike has ended (3) : a worker who accepts employment or replaces a union worker during a strike (4) : one who works for less than union wages or on nonunion terms

15. Now, I need specific instances of where I, or anyone at Honda has done that...
Edited on Tue Nov-08-11 09:45 PM by catabryna
using your definition.

eta: (4) : one who works for less than union wages or on nonunion terms

By this definition, anyone who is not unionized or doesn't make union scale wages is a scab? That's over-the-top.

18. Do you not know how to do research on Google?
Honda workers voted down union membership.

If you need a link for that you can go find it yourself.

And your description of the definition I supplied is really off the wall, because that is not what it says at all. Props for having a great imagination though.

See ya.

12. They reap union benefits without being members of the union. If it weren't for the "threat" of
unionization, Honda would be paying their employees even shittier wages.

14. Wage information for UAW workers vs. non-union workers at Honda please.
Edited on Tue Nov-08-11 09:53 PM by catabryna
I lost my Honda. My next new car will be a Chevy (if I can ever afford it). But, I do want to see a reputable link to back up your statement.

eta: I do agree that unions do raise wages for everyone... but, I also believe the wages payed at Honda are far lower than the average UAW worker. That's why I want to see a link.

5. Obviously the employers need to compete with the union shops so

even the non-union workers should vote for unions to keep their pay and benefits safe.

I don't know if they were smart enough to do this or not but it is the only thing that makes sense.
