3. the world has hit critical mass when a young man who felt he
had no future in Tunisia went and set himself on fire. Then the outrage was awakened and spread through the world through social networking, twitter and facebook and the internet. The global consciousness has been awakened by the cries of humanity seeking freedom and peace. God help the oligarchs. They may not go quietly but they are going.

I love the world and all who live in it tonight.

4. Times are changing.
The essential humanity of men can be protected and preserved only where government must answer — not just to the wealthy, not just to those of a particular religion, or a particular race, but to all its people. - RFK

6. Okay but remember: the VIGILANT activist never drops her/his guard, even while celebrating.
The only take-away (as one would say these days) with THESE people is that they either didn't buy enough airtime or arm their many operatives, talking heads, pundits, bloggers, columnists, and other assorted wholly-owned activists sufficiently. Or maybe it was that they didn't dig deep enough or early enough, didn't lay enough groundwork. OR, knowing the mentality of some of them, I'd expect the more devious ones to reassess what no-good stuff or cheating or vote rigging might have been possible - to let them put their thumbs on the scale at weighing time.

You have to take these people seriously. Too many of them are "by any means necessary" extremists, which is especially true if they're fired up by some sort of religious fervor. That's why the anti-choice people trouble me. They think God is on their side and that their cause is righteous - so it's okay if you shoot a doctor or staffers at a women's health clinic. End justifies means. They don't care. They think they're anointed "guerrillas for God." They're on a mission. Whatever gets 'em to their goal. So throw Machiavelli in, too. This devil's brew creates a formidable enemy. Because they don't give up. They won't take no for an answer, even when it's a decisive two-to-one or three-to-two vote margin against them, nor will they view a defeat as a defeat. It's a mere setback to be actively resisted and, they hope, eventually to be plowed through and trampled asunder. Because they think they're doing God's will so they're not gonna quit til they get their way.

For example:

When I watched the kasich concession speech, I couldn't help but view it with jaundiced eyes. Can't help it. I'm suspicious. He's a republi-CON. Part of an infestation spawned by Pox Noise outsourcing. I know where he comes from and who he keeps company with, and who he trusts and agrees with. He's Just Simply Not To Be Trusted. I'd reserve judgment while watching him closely. Who will he be holding meetings with in the days ahead? Lobbyists? And for whom? Money people? Who and/or what do they represent? Campaign strategists? Does he get a call from kkkarl rove? Or does he place one? What will he be DOING, NOT SAYING, to indicate that he seriously and humbly accepts a CLEAR public signal of disapproval? Or will he be mouthing nice conciliatory words while refocusing his energy and resources on ways to figure out a way around what just happened and screw public employees ANYWAY - only just sneakier, and harder to notice for awhile (until it's too late)?

If people like him, in his position, are truly fired up that it urgently NEEDS to be their way or the highway, or it needs to be so because God is telling them to do it, then they'll quietly sneer at the public's very obvious directive and go about trying to ignore and subvert it. They'll never stop coming. They'll never stop attacking. They'll never stop sneaking. They'll never admit defeat and give up or go away, or somehow have an epiphany and suddenly realize that the ideas and philosophies of the left/progressives are what make America the beautiful and admired country we all grew up loving. Only a few of these guys on the other side will ever come to that realization.

We can never let down our guard. That's what the left did after the mid-'70s, when the effort to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment started losing steam, Vietnam was finally winding down, Woodstock was already fading in memory, and we'd gotten rid of Nixon. And the protests died down and Jerry Ford was a relatively harmless doofus that we only had to put up with for two years and then we got Jimmy Carter into the White House. And that was that. We won! And most were glad to put down their armor and rest. And nobody stayed on guard. 'Cause it really WASN'T over. And we really HADN'T won, as long as our opponents refused to concede defeat. And while our side relaxed and took a nice long breather, 'cause WE thought it WAS over, the other side never stopped. And soon there was nobody mounting a vigorous defense of Jimmy Carter and you know who swept in after that: reagan. And that was the beginning of the end, because all that energy and effort and momentum-building on the other side was born for one purpose only - to overturn everything the left had worked decades for and had put into effect for the good of the whole nation and not just a tiny pampered sliver of it.

And they walk the earth to this very day. We didn't beat them. In their eyes, we only slammed a few doors on them. Doors they consider ever vulnerable to lock-picking, jimmying open, or ramming down.

Harry Potter's friend Mad-Eye Moody was correct. CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!
