Please join me in thanking Wisconsin and Occupy for tonight's triumphs
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 12:04 AM by MannyGoldstein
Wisconsin and Occupy started the conversation, and gave the 99% permission to dream of a better future. We dreamed, we voted, we won.

Excelsior!

21. Phase one of "the Plan" is shaping up nicely.
It's where the masks come off the 1percenters and the 99 forms an anonymous worldwide swarm.

20. We'll be told in a year and a half that we didn't scrutinize the battle plan closely enough
And *of course* the plan has always been to transfer more monies to the banking sector, and to accelerate our various wars. Weren't you paying attention?

22. Wisconsin, yes. Occupy, no...
The Occupy crowds may have crystallized the hostility people feel towards the GOP and their business allies, but it was the hard work of people walking the campaign trail, not settled in campsites, that got us our wins today.

23. Direct action is what riled up the base.
Just like the Teabagger protests brought conservative voters out in 2010, the occupiers got liberals riled up and giving a damn again.

They are an important part of the reason why so many bothered showing up.

29. The first occupy was *in* Wisconsin. OWS and he national occupiers changed
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 04:55 AM by myrna minx
the conversation of the nation and the press. Are we still talking about deficits or are we discussing unemployment, foreclosures from the perspective of the people who lived in the homes and not the plight of the poor victim banks, sleazy bank practices, income disparity and poverty. The occupiers have illuminated these issues and brought them to the foreground, rather than the conversation being the standard Republican framed narrative that DC loves to follow so much.

30. what did we win?
are you suggesting that because some democrats beat some republicans that the people have won anything?

do you remember 2008-2010? the democrats are part of the problem.

i agree with you on the importance of wisconsin and occupy, i just want to be clear on our definition of victory.

31. Do you think that things would be the same if SB5 had passed?
And the other elections had gone the wrong way?

Your point is well taken that the war has a long way to go. But we won some battles last night.

40. Globally, we owe it all to Mohammed Bouazizi from Tunisia
His ultimate sacrifice was the catalyst for the Arab Spring, the Madison City Hall protests, and Occupy movement.

So if ever you think one person doesn't influence the world, think again!
