Millions of Fox News viewers will panic at 2pm EST today.
Televisions in 116 million American homes will go dark for 30 second Wednesday afternoon, the first time the federal government will interrupt all TV and radio broadcasting across the country simultaneously to test its emergency alert system.

The 2 p.m. test — planned by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission — will check the system that allows authorities to send messages to the public in case of a national crisis.

1. People still watch TV?

I think the best thing you can do at this moment for this country is to hook up people who can't afford a computer and the internet. And also maybe teach them how to use the internet, because yeah - a lot of people repeat the TV propaganda or make up shit on the internet, but with a little effort you can sort the good stuff from the bad.

I also don't listen to the radio anymore, because I can't handle the ads and the lowest common denominator corporate music.

I think a large percentage of the population won't see the emergency thing because they've moved on from TV and radio.

2. Not so much as if it had lasted 3 minutes...

I think most viewers will survive this.

However, first aid for a person with 'Loss of Television Signal' syndrome is simple,

Grab a role of toilet paper and approach the sufferer saying 'We need to talk about what goes on in the bathroom'
The LoTS sufferer will be tricked into substituting this for television advertising.
Keep-up a one-sided chatter about the absorptive and durability qualities of your toilet paper until the television signal returns...

There is every reason to believe that your housemate will return to their normal couch potato self.
