1. If that's why you are pissed off, you're an idiot.
If you are so weak minded to be a slave to cultural desires, you deserve what you get.

2. damn, i am glad i didnt raise my boys on tv. they rarely watch tv
and have never been interested in shows. mostly watch history or something with a subject, when they do watch.

we dont do "things" either.

they dont need to slowly learn. they are already there

10. Yup.
My sons are sometimes shocked at the laziness and materialistic ways of a few of their peers.
The OP looks like more 'blame your parents for everything' bullshit.

3. Fail. There is a depression. There are lots of unnecessary little wars. You're being lied to here.

People aren't just pissed off because many have to wait tables when they're young and are saddled with debt. That's always been true. People are pissed off today because the system run by and for the 99% is failing, quite visibly in 1,000 ways, and the rich just don't seem to give a shit about the consequences.

We are the consequences of the failure of the One Percent. We have not yet started to get pissed off.

6. I have to say...
My BS meter ticked a bit on this one as well.

I hate being told how I feel... and we get a lot of that. This does strike me as more of the same... making this monumental movement about materialism truly marginalizes the whole deal.

8. it's a quote from Fight Club. i find it cheesy that people are using quotes and masks from
movies to address serious shit...

12. That is the real TV and movie influence at work...
It does marginalize the effort, imho. It took no imagination either, which is quite concerning to me as well. Coming up with truly clever words and images on their own is far more impressive.

17. V for Vendetta is a great film
even subversive, calling out the creeping fascism in the UK

fight club was a film about the workers taking over again by blowing up the financial district of a major us city.

just saying

4. That's a little out there, imho...
I hope I managed my kids' expectations better than that! They have goals, but their self worth isn't tied to the end game.

This is very, very sad. This is materialism at it's most heinous and insidious.

5. Was this done by the same shop that put together the creepy original OWS poster?
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 10:54 AM by leveymg
You may have seen it, the one with the zombie, masked protesters lurking in the fog of tear gas behind the ballerina on the bull. Same threatening creepiness about this one.

13. That's the poster. Makes the OWS protesters look like a mob of hungry zombies.
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 11:10 AM by leveymg
And, you know there's only one way to deal with zombies. . .

The guy in the "We are Very, Very Pissed Off" image reminds me of a typical movie poster or magazine image of a murderous sexual predator. And, you know, there's only one way to deal with murderous sexual predators . . .

14. Oh...yeah I've seen that one...
I don't think it's creepy.

I think it's interesting seeing all the different "expressions" on this movement. You've got people writing their experiences and putting a face to the problem, you've got the funnies, you've got over the top drama and so on.

So many different ways to express anger and disappointment--I may not agree with all--but I think it's cool to see the diversity.

For instance--I don't agree with--or even like the picture I posted---but I thought maybe someone might.

Thanks for digging this up this picture for me. :hi:

15. One part shallowness...
One part confusion...
One part creepiness.

This appears to me to planted disinformation to discredit OWS.

(and... who pumps gas for a living? Only a 65 year old tea-bagger would still think that there is a job like that)

16. At the age of 70 I can tell you that many of my generation came to
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 12:05 PM by jwirr
that same conclusion that the American Dream was not working but we did not act because at least we still had hope for some of the things we wanted like families, homes, good jobs, medical care such as Medicaid/Medicare, Social Security, education and other vital things.

Your generation are truly "the change we have been waiting for". The majority had no idea that TPTB were heading us to this end. We were raised on the idea of "bigger, better and more" what you identify as materialism. And that was how it was supposed to continue. Since I have been poor my entire life it took me a while and some education to realize what has happening to others than just myself.
