Thompson in Vatican for stem cell conference

The Thompson in question is former Wisconsin Governer and Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson.

Tommy's signature accomplishment while serving in Dubya's cabinet was changing the name of the Healthcare Financing Administration to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Another subtle use of language by the Republicans to remove the primary responsibility - financing - from the name.

This conference will focus on promoting adult stem cell research.
