Mine is in the front room so whenever someone comes in the front door they will see this picture.

1. I'm not into dictatorships, as a thing
So no - I don't have a picture of Dear Leader in my home.

Note - this isn't a comment on Obama so much as the creepy and weird practice of leader worship. And it is generally dictators who have statues and giant posters and pictures of themselves everywhere.

and whether or not you have a picture up or not is fine with me. i was going to frame the front page of the Reno Gazette the day after he was elected (I volunteered in Nevada back in 2008) but when i got around to it, he was kind of making me crazy so i didn't. but i still have it and may someday put it up.

It really matters not if some one has a picture of our President on their wall, in their house or whatever. What mattered to me is the response that question would garner.

114. Bill CLINTON
Entered office during a recession and left the middle class in prosperity. Obama had the chance to take much needed drastic action, but that would have required debt forgiveness which means his (and bluedog democrats) banker donors would have taken a hit. So we are left where we are. BTW, I have the photo of Obama/Biden and wives victory pose after election, a token of gratitude for my volunteer work on the campaign. It is tucked away for safekeeping. I don't hasve it hanging in my home because I no longer have a home. When that changes, (remember that word?) I will frame it.

over my kitchen (and some in other rooms). They are still young and like seeing their projects, and I like seeing them too. I don't have any pictures of politicians on my wall, but my husband does have his picture with Houston's past mayor (Bill White) and perhaps we'll frame that at some point since we are both big fans of his.

23. Never had a pic of a President
Edited on Fri Nov-11-11 06:26 PM by treestar
Though my grandparents I recall had a photo of JFK.

A friend from India has a photo of Gandhi.

Interesting, I think it's rare here. The suggestions regarding dictatorship on this thread cause me to ask - did people keep pics of Hitler and Stalin in their homes?

I definitely would if I were in it and have seen a photo someone with a son in the marines has with the POTUS and a few other marines.

Also I did have some photos of the inauguration on my computer for a while - was a great reminder of how happy I was to see the Shrub gone and that Obama was President now.

30. It's classic "cult of personality" stuff.
Very widespread in eastern bloc countries and in China.

I would consider it in very poor taste if I went to someone's house only to see a huge picture of GWB looking down on me. The entertaining areas of your house should be about welcoming people, not saying "these are my political beliefs... got a problem with them?"

28. The key word is * in * your home
Yes.
I have several hundred of them:
DVD's with a collection of favorite photos I downloaded during the 2008 campaign.
A few collectors magazines that came out after the inauguration with TONS of photos.
Special edition newspaper inserts from the 2008 campaign and the 2009 inauguration.
A copy of the photo of Obama holding 'the three legged dog' is on the front of my fridge held there by a Obama 2012 magnet.

And my brother, an artist, has promised to paint me an oil of Obama as soon as I can decide on which photo I want painted.
Twenty-five years ago, for my grandmother, he painted a portrait of JFK - almost everyone in my grandmothers neighborhood has a picture of JFK somewhere in there house on a wall.

One of MLK and the other of JFK. They'd be on church fans, portraits hanging on the wall or SOMEWHERE in that house.

This is a cool thread. I think it's nice and it's getting me really nostalgic to see all of the folks with Obama paraphernalia in their homes.

I grew up in a family that loved JFK like a son (Irish Catholics). There was a nice framed image of him in my grandma's living room- next to the pope. I wonder whatever happened to that picture?

I guess if it was autographed. But, actually I would be creeped out knowing total strangers had pictures of me on their walls or refrigerators. I know people do that with superstars. You have to even be careful with photo albums that belong to old people. They'll slip in a few pictures of a dead guy in a casket. Especially, the MLK image. As a child, that fascinated me. Why keep that photo? I guess for the memories. I think once I got past the age of 13, I had to know you really well to even keep your photo, much less stick it on the wall with Mom and Dad and my kids. I actually think he's been a good president. He'll get my vote. But, he's essentially another rich politician to me. He's not a friend or relative. He's just doing his job. And, he's paid well to do it.

They tend to get dusty, but I KNOW they are there,

I can't envision adding Obama to this collection of "Democrats",
unless he radically changes direction.
