8. If it was a war, i would suspect
love of words will win. Even these days, with definitions a key/button stroke away and i suspect those of us who admire how language has evolved and is evolving at a exponential pace, really care about origins :(

15. Spelling Bees Lead to Entomology
Spelling bees are a gateway to actual entomology. Childhood spellers have been known to send away for ant farm kits.

A - B - C - D - E - F . . .

2. Not sure.
All I know is you need to email the Online Etymology Dictionary and let them know that the word "logophilia" isn't present on their site :P

18. I'd say you were lucky to get any Latin at all.
I took it in High School (mostly because I was enamored by what my next oldest brother had told me about it) only to get just one year's worth. The teacher, while being a really great teacher for us, decided she'd had enough of teaching and got a higher-paying job out in the "real" world. Then my school decided to try and get me to stay behind half a year because I hadn't had two-consecutive years of one language. When I rather belligerently explained that it wasn't my fault but theirs, they backed down and I graduated normally with one year Latin and one year German. I like German, but I would rather have had both years of Latin.

Now here's a site for you to either brush up on your Greek, or correct the page :P

7. OTOH, if you google logiphila it leads right back to the OP.
It is a closed circle, an omphalos as it were. All logophiliacs know what I mean.

9. Interesting distraction, but you truly cannot understand
origin of words versus meaning of words?

I do not intentionally mean to be well...."mean" but there is a world of difference.
