has it in exchange for a corp. bigger building. The status of the property has been covered many times before. The park is a PUBLIC park open 24/7 is the deal.
9. Owners CAN'T change the rules without appealing to
city hall and having meetings and resolutions in order to change the rules on the property. They traded their rights for some privileges. Not easy to reverse.
5. So you think that private property trumps the First Amendment?
I dont think the First Amendment only applies in public property. And besides, the property was private on the condition it be kept open to the public.
7. If you come onto my front yard, I can have you arrested
Freedom of assembly does not work on private land. If you tried to walk into a Wal-Mart and stage a protest, you would be kicked out or arrested.
Zuccoti Park is a privately owned public space, which gives the owners the right to create rules and guidelines for the property such as prohibiting tents (like they did).
13. your ownership of that property is conditional. The govt can seize it at any time.
As George Bush Jr did to build a stadium while he was governor. Freedom of Assembly works everywhere WE allow it to work. Zucotti Park opened its doors to the Occupiers and the public. The government shut them down, and not fairly.
The owners had to get a variance to build their building part of that deal is that they had to build a park and maintain it for public use 24/7. So if it not a public park then the building will have to be torn down so it is a public park
