I have a unique opportunity to speak at a hydrofracking event tonight...
I have an opportunity to speak directly to two local politicians (supporters...) about the issue of hydrofracking issue in Western/Central New York tonight at 7:30 p.m.

I need some advice...

Do I:

A.) Speak to the talking points which have been addressed by the citizen population throughout the day-long event already.

OR

B.) Take a store-purchased bottle of water (unknown to them...), and empty it into a glass and request that they take a big slug. After watching them squirm in discomfort simply state: "I rest my case..." and walk out.

I'm leaning towards option: B.

3. Both.
Speak to the talking point, close with the water bottle.

Good luck!

5. The only reason I offered it as an either or situation...
Is that I sorta feel the second option is more of a 'protest' idea that is being pretty heavily guarded from happening inside the event...

Kinda like the whole, ya let one slip through.

4. Yes. Do both. Make sure they have their say about how they're not thirsty

So the entire audience can see them weasel out of taking a drink.

It would be cool if you could take some water that you could light with a cigarette lighter.

Maybe you can do that next time.

6. Add some butane to bottled water
shake well. When you're done talking, do the pour and light it. Sometimes the ends justify the means.

9. I believe I saw option B in a movie about
Erin Brockovich.....whatever. I think you should be very careful with this option. If they don't drink it, it only proves that they don't trust you and that you might have adulterated the water. I wouldn't drink water served to me this way without any verification of its source either.

While it might be dramatic, it could also be a big fail.

10. B. might not work.

What if they gladly drink it and say, "tastes great!"?

12. Be cool.
The only way to get the message across is to not let their emotions interfere with the process.

Do both.

What I meant was this- If you come across like one of them, they won't have anything to judge you by. If you make it sound like you versus them, and then storm out, they'll call you a fringe freak.

If you only knew how many drunk driving tickets I got out of as a kid. I regret I ever drank at all. But my point is, I played the cop to the cop. And they always let me go. I'm sure 40 years later it's not like that. But the point, as inappropriate as it is, is the same.

13. Option B is very "Julia Roberts as Erin Brockovitch"
You could float a little lighter fluid on top of the water, and light it off!

15. Ask them if they use radioactive material in their fracking. Krugman suggested this and I'd like to
know more.
