I got a wrong number Call for a Possible Job Offer, what should I do ?
the person called and left voice message. usually i would just ignore it but i know how tough and important the job situation is right now. should i call back and tell them they have the wrong number and to check the number they have again since they probably read a number wrong or just dialed the wrong number.

or just ignore it ?

3. Make sure it's a valid local number and not a scam where they make you
call a number that puts a huge charge on your phone bill.

What me, cynical !?...

8. Call and speak with the person that left the message so that he knows he dialed the wrong number
so that he can call the right person that is supposed to get the job :)

It took me a year to get a job; they are a precious commodity nowadays and you just may be feeding someone's family.

13. When I lived in Portland, my fax number was one digit off from the fax number
of a local headhunting firm.

I used to get people's resumes with cover letters all the time.

Since their current employer might not know that they were job hunting, I simply called the contact number on the resume and said (or left a message), "The fax you sent at x o'clock went to a wrong number. Please resend it to the right number, which is ________."

17. Call 'em back. If you can find out who the prospective employee is and what his/her number is, call
them as well.

That small act of extending yourself by dialing a number and telling someone that they misdialed could have profound consequences.

Hey, jobs are hard to come by. Would you not want someone to right the error if it was your job on the line, so close to the holiday season?

18. I can't even believe you're wondering what to do
Only someone with a heart of stone would contemplate ignoring it. What in the world is there to think about here? You know if you don't call the company back and let them know they contacted the wrong party will cost someone a needed job. What kind of person would even consider doing that?

The call takes a few seconds and it could mean someone's job/career.

I share the same name as a director of low-budget horror movies. They left a voicemail saying they had a script they wanted me to direct. I almost called them back since it would be a gas to direct a movie. Wish I had...
