Newt Gingrich corrects Occupy Wall Street protestors in Jax
Newt Gingrich corrects Occupy Wall Street protestors in Jax
by Dara Kam | November 17th, 2011

GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich drew loud cheers for his head-on – but polite – response to a few Occupy Wall Street protestors who briefly interrupted a tea party town hall in Jacksonville this afternoon.

Earlier, Gingrich told the crowd he shared the protestors’ anger about the nation’s financial mess but said that local officials should film them and deal harshly with any protestors who are violent towards people or property.

Near the end of his hour-and-a-half event, a few protestors interrupted Gingrich, shouting “We are the 99 percent!” That elicited boos from the tea party crowd but the former U.S. House Speaker quickly used the opportunity to garner even more support.

Speaking directly to the protestors, Gingrich told them to wait.“There’s no such thing as 99 percent in America,” he said. “We are 100 percent Americans.”

5. So Newt is saying if he lost all his money, there would be no difference?
Let's see him give it all away and then tell us there's no 1%.

6. This is an intentional misreading by the right wing. It ISN'T 99% of
support, or as the lizard proffers, being an American.

Its we are of the 99% of people who are suffering at the hands of the 1%.

Everyone knows this, but they pretend not to, just as they pretend to not know what we are protesting.

FUCK THEM.

7. Newt's consulting fees depend heavily on his not understanding
As a result, he will quite deteminedly fail to understand that whole 99% thing. The crowd of nitwit Tea Baggers he was talking to? I do not have any idea why they fail to understand. Except that it brings to mind Harriet Tubman's quote that she must have freed a thousand slaves and could have freed a thousand more, if only they knew they were slaves.

9. Hmm, the beginnings of a strategy?
This would have been seen as desperate a couple of months ago, but now that Newtie is on the ascendency, it seems like it could be a way to keep riding to the top of the heap with Republicons. He did a pretty fair job of scapegoating Democratic congresscritters in his Contract On America back in 1994, too.
