JOBS. JOBS. JOBS.
This should be the one overwhelming message coming out of every OWS demonstration, IMHO. This is what would get through to the vast majority of the American people -- who we need to have on our side.

The rest can follow, once we get the attention of the public in a positive way.

But for now, every OWS demonstration should be focused on the need to create JOBS.

1. I don't think Occupy Wall Street needs anyone to instruct them on what to focus on.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure jobs jobs jobs has been a pretty big part of the message.

3. Of course they don't. Who cares whether the majority of the public will support them or not?
No point in being strategic. These demonstrations are as effective as they could possibly be.

16. According to one of the news programs last night - OWS has presented
a plan of action to do just that to the Super committee. It was professionally done with data and all. The only complaint so far is that it was too comprehensive. I am looking forward to reading it.

4. No, but any movement needs people to offer their opinions.

6. No. That's just a means to an end.
I'm not willing to see an organic movement naturalize capitalist preconceptions. The problem is distribution of wealth. Jobs are one means of addressing the problem, but not the only one. Part of the problem is that jobs that do exist pay poorly, offer no security, and offer inadequate health, pension, and vacation benefits. So it's not just jobs.

9. Long-term unemployment means people will get even more desperate.
Some jobs pay very well. And 'distribution of wealth' will take a looooong time. People who have lost their homes and may not be able to eat 3 meals a day might disagree with you about those kind of priorities.

Just sayin'.

20. And if we can't get a jobs bill passed, and start cutting into unemployment,
then we can watch the Republicans sweep into office in 2012. And watch the tanks roll in for the next set of protests.

Thank you! I'm glad SOMEONE here gets it!

I'm done wasting my breath trying to explain to people that ya can hardly support yourself, much less a family on these jobs!

As for the rest of what you said:

19. Here's why we need a push on JOBS NOW.
Obama needs help from the American public getting his jobs bills passed -- including spending on infrastructure and energy -- if he's going to get re-elected. That must happen NOW, if he's going to have a chance. The more pressure that can be brought to bear on Congress, right now, from OWS and everyone else, the better.

If he's re-elected, and gets strong majorities in the House and Senate, then they can all work together on changing everything else that needs to be fixed.

If he isn't, then we'll have President Romney or Perry Or Gingrinch in office. And if you think things are bad now, just wait.

12. No, this is a hell of a lot bigger than jobs.
"Jobs" do not solve much when they are increasingly provided by monopolizing corporations that slash benefits, refuse to raise meager salaries, demand more work for less pay, and funnel massive profits to the CEO. We have a systemic problem in this country - a problem of bankers and corporations that have purchased both parties of our government and are systematically crafting a society that legally feeds upon the rest of us.
