Words have meaning, don't they?
Edited on Fri Nov-18-11 07:55 PM by piratefish08
"And this brings me to the final area where we are leading -- our support for the fundamental rights of every human being. Every nation will chart its own course. Yet it is also true that certain rights are universal; among them, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, and the freedom of citizens to choose their own leaders. These are not American rights, or Australian rights, or Western rights. These are human rights."

President Barack Obama - Nov 17, 2011

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2011/11/17/remarks-president-obama-australian-parliament

these were the words that were spoken by the President on the same day as the OWS abuses by authorities in NYC and around the country.

words have meaning.

4. Meanings are relativities made significant by action/behavior, the universe of which includes
not just a President, who is not a king nor a god, but much more importantly, we the People.

All of the iron-clad absolute presidential proclamations in the universe mean nothing without the aware actions/behaviors of an evolving maturing LIVE -ly people, because we are, in- DEED, the ones we have been waiting for.

5. They forgot to put the asterisks beside "speech," "assembly," and "press."
And the part at the bottom that says "*does not apply to challenges to or questioning of the 0.01%"

Apparently.

7. Yeah, because everybody knows that President Obama should have federalized the police forces ...
in every jurisdiction where the OWS protesters are being brutalized.

12. Well, for one, the rest of the world mostly doesn't know that...
And the rest of the world was also watching the Arab Spring 'peaceful protesters' who got illegally assaulted, then saw President Barack Obama defend their human rights.

Is it any surprise that the rest of the world is now confused about the perceived double-standard?

also just "confused", or is something else perhaps at issue?

15. Who cares about the 'un-written' issue?
Everybody can grow a thick skin about any issue.

Do you really think that the 'un-written' issue will have any 'substantial-enough' negative effect on the chances for re-election?

(I used to think so. Not anymore.)

Chill off.

8. Have you ever seen a Buddhist self-immolation? Things mean what people MAKE them mean in action.
And obviously, from the example I just refered to, some people have extraordinary powers in that regard.

There's a dynamic relationship between internal and external semantics, too much dependence on one or the other enslaves action.

9. That's making occupying about HIM instead of us. I'm an occupier & that's NOT what I'm doing.
Why would anyone go through such a thing and then say in effect "It's up to him/someone else to make it real." That seems exactly the opposite of why we occupy.

Occupations can be about more than sitting in some park. They CAN be about concrete behaviors that REMOVE our own labor-capital, our own Real Value, from the Federal Reserve system. I don't need a president to validate that for me.

11. So calling for more tolerance and treating Americans like citizens is making this about him?
No. How does anyone expect the international community to take anything we say seriously if we abuse our own people?

hated, can be completely ignored in order to score political points and, thus, guarantee re-election of local oppressors.

I can't imagine what "the Left" which despises him expects him to do, legally. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

It would seem more democratic for local people to take it up with their own local TPB and if they fail to comply there should be retribution taken on the guilty parties either directly or indirectly come your vote.
