5. THANKS!
'the movement could mean "more than just short-term discomfort for Wall Street firms" and has "the potential to have very long-lasting political, policy and financial impacts on the companies in the center of the bullseye." . .

It shouldn't be surprising that the Democratic party or even President Obama's re-election team would campaign against Wall Street in this cycle. However the bigger concern should be that Republicans will no longer defend Wall Street companies -- and might start running against them too.'

A Houston area law enforcement agency is prepared to launch an unmanned drone that could someday carry weapons, Local 2 Investigates reported Friday.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in Conroe paid $300,000 in federal homeland security grant money and Friday it received the ShadowHawk unmanned helicopter made by Vanguard Defense Industries of Spring.

A laptop computer is used to control the 50-pound unmanned chopper, and a game-like console is used to aim and zoom a powerful camera and infrared heat-seeking device mounted on the front.

He said they are designed to carry weapons for local law enforcement.

"The aircraft has the capability to have a number of different systems on board. Mostly, for law enforcement, we focus on what we call less lethal systems," he said, including Tazers that can send a jolt to a criminal on the ground or a gun that fires bean bags known as a "stun baton."

"You have a stun baton where you can actually engage somebody at altitude with the aircraft. A stun baton would essentially disable a suspect," he said.

Gage said he has no immediate plans to outfit his drone with weapons, and he also ruled out using the chopper for catching speeders.

to have drones like this patrol the GOP convention. I smell a dry run, as the Tampa convention will have both the tea Party and OWS.

Because unlike Chicago, you have a LOT of heavily armed gun nuts. Also, if Mitt gets it (and let's face it, it is his) then you will have a tea party that will want blood.

2. Yeah, I heard somebody yell "Don't shoot!" just as Live Stream went dead
They had already said they were about to be raided again, Robocops 3 deep surrounding the park.

I posted it at the time. I was afraid something nasty was about to happen. They didn't want any witnesses.

Bloomie must've caught a clue that every time he sends his goons in, the whole thing gets bigger.

It won't last, of course. Having a fully militarized police force at his disposal is just too much of a temptation to use it.

9. It'll be on Chris Hayes' Up tomorrow morning - from Greg Sargent:
"* You should definitely check out Chris Hayes’ show on MSNBC tomorrow morning — he has a scoop coming that will shed some new light on the meaning of the constant efforts to discredit Occupy Wall Street. Here’s the teaser:

‘Up’ will reveal details of a memo the program has obtained from a prominent lobbying firm pitching a Wall Street client on how to hit back at Occupy Wall Street and target specific Democrats in 2012 races around the country."

17. Their best strategy for taking it down is to co-opt it...
Embrace it, usurp it, break it up and take it down from within...

They'll keep attacking it from the outside too, but I expect this is where they're going.

which is what is so damn confounding to outsiders...

Trust me, it took me a while to get that at a systemic level.

While they have "leaders" they really lack them.

22. It's the best kind of movement: pure Democracy.

You can't discredit an individual leader since there is no single person. You can't disappear them either.

You can crack skulls, shoot at them, pepper spray them, but then that only hardens their resolve to come back for more: galvanizing them against the PTB.

Ron Paul Tea Party 2007 Los Angeles,Ca
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGB8BeUWtwA

Michael Moore is right when he says there is not any particular party or movement behind the protests.

Everyone has a right to be there.

Wrong and wrong IMO...

"...Today, I have had to refute those who are trying to assert that the Tea Party was formed to protest Bank Bail outs. I say that the Tea Party was formed to protest the anger of some that Pres. Obama was proposing programs to provide families avoid foreclosures..."

"...And just like before, this fund drive was not organized by the Ron Paul campaign offices but by Ron Paul's supporters themselves. And for those who might miss the significance in the date of the first fund raising drive since it was on a date more famous in Britain than in America (Guy Fawkes Night - Gunpowder Plot) today's drive should be more familiar to those familiar with American history because December 16th, 2007 is the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, an event that was emblematic of the then coming American Revolution..."

Ron Paul: The Tea Party Is Now Corporately Owned

"...Dr. Paul admits that the Tea Party is now corporately owned. Original Tea Partiers give credit to its inception to Dr. Paul. Worth noting is that Ron Paul voted against the Patriot Act, leaving him fairly ostracized from his own party. While many of his political beliefs I give pause to, auditing the Fed is not one of them.

Corporatism in the Tea Party negates the grassroots movement which it once claimed to be — have you heard them recently still claim their party to be a grassroots movement?"

Ron Paul Helped Inspire the Tea Party Movement, and Now It Could Take Him Down

"...Sarah Palin may be the face of the Tea Party movement today, but it started with Ron Paul in 2007..."

Google "ron paul tea party 2007"

Edited on Sat Nov-19-11 12:40 AM by slipslidingaway
time for it to be released? MSNBC has the memo, they sent a couple of paragraphs (or maybe the whole thing???) to Huffington Post so now everyone can write about the release tomorrow morning.

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/slipslidingaway/496

Associated Press Staff Scolded for Tweeting Too Quickly About OWS Arrests

"A high importance e-mail went out to Associated Press employees early Wednesday morning to remind them of Twitter rules in the wake of staff arrests at yesterday's local protests. "In relation to AP staff being taken into custody at the Occupy Wall Street story, we’ve had a breakdown in staff sticking to policies around social media and everyone needs to get with their folks now to tell them to knock it off," went one version of the e-mail sent from on high, as obtained by Daily Intel. "We have had staff tweet – BEFORE THE MATERIAL WAS ON THE WIRE – that staff were arrested."

The official rules note, "Don’t break news that we haven’t published, no matter the format." (Reuters spells out the same idea plainly in their handbook: "Don't scoop the wire.")..."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/18/lobbying-firm-occupy-wall-street_n_1102310.html?ref=mostpopular

"...The first two graphs of the memo, provided by MSNBC to The Huffington Post, express angst over the idea that the movement could mean "more than just short-term discomfort for Wall Street firms" and has "the potential to have very long-lasting political, policy and financial impacts on the companies in the center of the bullseye."

The paragraphs read in full:

Leading Democratic party strategists have begun to openly discuss the benefits of embracing the growing and increasingly organized Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement to prevent Republican gains in Congress and the White House next year. We have seen this process of adopting extreme positions and movements to increase base voter turnout, including in the 2005-2006 immigration debate. This would mean more than just short-term discomfort for Wall Street firms. If vilifying the leading companies of this sector is allowed to become an unchallenged centerpiece of a coordinated Democratic campaign, it has the potential to have very long-lasting political, policy and financial impacts on the companies in the center of the bullseye.
It shouldn't be surprising that the Democratic party or even President Obama's re-election team would campaign against Wall Street in this cycle. However the bigger concern should be that Republicans will no longer defend Wall Street companies -- and might start running against them too..."
