Occupy Memphis, tea party members meet
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Occupy Memphis member Mallory Pope had just finished telling a group of about 75 tea party followers Thursday night that politicians should not allow themselves to be influenced by lobbyists and unions when she received an unexpected invitation.

"It sounds to me that y'all ought to be joining us," said Jerry Rains, a 64-year-old computer programmer and tea party member. "You have a lot of the same goals we have, which is to take our country back."

Pope and fellow Occupy Memphis protester Tristan Tran had a lively, sometimes strained and confrontational, but mostly civil discussion with members of the Mid-South Tea Party at a municipal meeting hall outside Memphis.

The factions saw eye-to-eye on some issues and clashed on others. And, while the young speakers didn't change many minds, they did earn praise from the tea party members for their passion, honesty and courage.

I was floored by the civility between the TP and OWS members. They showed more manners than Congress. If only the baggers and Occupiers nationwide would put their differences aside and band together against the banksters, lobbyists, and their bought politicians in Washington, the 1% will be shitting a collective brick.

6. Hope you are right - last I heard TeaFarty praised Corporations
and the "Economic Freedoms" or Trickle Down Economics. But we all knew it was the Corporations spouncering the TeaFarty movement then pulling the strings.

What has changed since then

7. You are so right
That is their biggest fear. They spend too much time and money keeping us separated, people coming together against them is their worst nightmare. If we all realized 99%>1% we would be running our gov, not them

8. Precisely
For far too long the powers have been using every means to divide the people and grab the riches of this country. We have been divided by race, immigration status, religion, class, etc. While the Tea Party & OWS have many differences they do have some things in common such as being fed up with the status quo. One also suspects that bankers are not real popular with either group.

9. That is good. The Founding Fathers had to form coalitions
with each other even though many of them were worlds apart on many issues, but joined forces in order to gain their independence from the British. It cannot be a partisan movement, and if they can agree on the main goals they can go back to civil disagreement on the others, after they achieve them.

"Take our country back" Only means one thing to me. It means get that black man out of "our" WH. Fuck the Teabaggers. A leopard NEVER changes their spots.
They'll pull a Larry Tate, and try and take credit. They rewrite history ALL the time.
