I have to say, I hate HOAs in general. $7,000 because someone put up a sign and the letter they sent was returned? Meddling stuck-up bastards.

However, when one buys into such a community, it is made very clear what it entails. I was apprehensive at first, I felt that we were entering into Stepford wives country but it was all written down and we signed to acknowledge the rules. There was a brief time when we got a group of people running the place that tried to disregard the processes for dealing with conflicts. They tried to fine people without going through the courtesy of notifying them and giving them a chance to respond or clear up the problem but they were soon vanquished and all illegal actions were rescinded.

I have a feeling that there may be more to this story, it is reported by a fox affiliate and it involves Glen Beck supporters so I am a little apprehensive.

My parents live in a duplex in a community with very serious controls. There is only one street parking space per two units, so whenever we visit, there is a whole game of musical chairs with the cars, even though 75% of the street is completely clear. I really can't understand the mentality that would either prefer this or enforce it. And $7,000 for an unauthorized sign should really not be legal.

The more people advertise their putrid viewpoints the fewer I'd have to live near and deal with.
