Is Americans Elect a shill organization and faux third party created by the PTB?

That's the smell that seems to be coming from it, imo.

Watching Charlie Rose tonight interview two guys about the third party American Elect.
Interesting that they won't reveal where the seed money that financed this organization came from.
Charlie tried to get to the bottom of that a few times and they would not spill it.

Based on what I've learned so far, I'm personally in agreement with this statement by Albert Hunt who wrote about this in late July.

The most basic problem, one that often afflicts such movements, is that it’s top down; find a charismatic presidential candidate and all flows from there.
If fundamental change is the purpose, the emphasis instead should be on a bottom-up approach to building local candidates and grassroots infrastructure that subsequently could wage a serious presidential run.

Furthermore, unless the unreliable e-voting machines are tossed out by ALL political parties, the system has no hope of renewing trust in the system.

12. They've quietly been working to ready the states/political infrastructure for it.

Pouring millions into it in fact. Next they'll let loose their dogs of propaganda/advertising and a new and improved 'candidate of the people'.
I'm betting it will be the next winner of American Idol...but that's just between you and me. ;-)

We've already discovered how unimportant their front-man is in their underlying schemes. But this is a time for all Americans to be alert to big manipulations because it's during funky transition points like the one we're in now that leaves us vulnerable to a guru descended from the ptb.

Great! Thanks.

Ha! The CEO of Hallmark? I think we need to turn the tables and send a thoughtful card from the PEOPLE to Hallmark!

4. I'm having a difficult time finding out. Chris Matthews had the
guy on his program today with David Corn. Matthews and Corn did get him to admit that he got $5 million in seed money from his father. Corn tried to pin him down as to what his motivations and goals were. He was non-committal. He was just going to buy ballot access in the 50 states and hope that they could get a candidate to ride on it. Now if that candidate turned out to be Ron Paul, then I think it would help Obama's chances in 2012 by drawing many of the Republican nutcase votes away from Romney. If it turned out to be Huntsman, it could hinder Obama's reelection chances.

Here's the sourcewatch on it:

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Americans_Elect. Note that Douglas Schoen who just wrote an article for the Wall Street Journal suggesting that Obama step down is on that list.

9. Smells a bit like astroturf or a stalking horse.
The lack of transparency must be remedied, that excuse is bullshit. The claim not to be a political party will not fly. If they really want to reform the system, they will have to be smarter than this. If their job is just to ground out another populist political movement, this will work fine.
