I did spend money yesterday
I paid admission to one of our local historical sites (a fort) and to a national park site (another fort, we have lots of them in the South). Quiet, beautiful day, no crowds. Family had fun instead of angst. Both were good places to reflect on our history and how we have changed as a nation.

1. While that breaks the letter of the Buy Nothing DAY Credo

I don't think it violates the spirit at all.

2. I would argue that paying admission
to a historic site is not buying something.

3. Well, you wouldn't be arguing with me
See the body of my post. I'm not much for letters and all for spirit.

5. I'm using "argue" in the sense of state my case,
not in the sense of disagreeing or being argumentative. But you knew, that, didn't you.

Most of my life I never shopped the day after Thanksgiving. Then there was a brief period in the 1990's when I did, shopping with my sister on that day. It was sort of fun -- mainly because I was with her. But we were never looking for the deeply discounted items, so after three or four years we simply stopped.

This year, I've made about half of the gifts I'll be giving, and the rest will be internet purchases.
