3. Churches that discriminate should have their tax-exemptions yanked ....
Churches like that are not really 'churches' in my opinion.

4. So if a mick marries a wop they can't come to this church? Or is it just "interracial couples" with
blackness?

5. Not to be blunt but screw em. If the church is full of hate, go elsewhere.
These churches keep pushing me further and further away from religion every day. Soon (last year) I'll be wearing a Proud to be Atheist tshirt.

17. Of course they do

Why wouldn't they?

There is not a position on anything that can't be backed up by a Bible verse.

16. i.e. not Calvinists

One of the fault lines in protestant belief is that between "free will" and "predestination".

In a nutshell, they will say that you must choose to have faith in Jesus for salvation.

The contrary position is that you actually do not have choice, because if it is up to you to choose, then salvation is entirely dependent on you, instead of Jesus, and you are fooling yourself into believing that you have saved yourself by making that choice.

It's an entirely silly debate, but "Baptists who don't like Calvinists" tend to put "freewill" in their name. The other ones will put "grace" in their name, to signify that salvation is entirely bestowed upon you.

So, your typical hick town will have "First Baptist Church" because it was the first one in town. After a while, they get into an argument and up pops "Grace Baptist Church" and "Freewill Baptist Church".

They multiply like some ghastly species that eats its young.

It's people like this that made me turn away from Christianity and ultimately all religion.

You see, it's ALL about those precious salt of the Earth working class white folks in Appalachia.

They must be pandered to, kowtowed to and appeased for they are America.

Yes, this is :sarcasm:

21. I am a working class white person in Appalachia...
And my only gripe with Obama is that I want him to move farther to the left. Like, extremely.

But you're right...

I find very few here I can relate to politically.

20. Apparently, the member that proposed it is the biggest donor...
Go figure.

A caller on the local news said it was a church on its last leg...

And this will probably do it in as members are threatening to quit if the decision is not reversed.

28. "On Sunday, church members voted 9-6 to not condone interracial marriage." 9 people at one church
certainly know how to get a lot of (bad) publicity for an incredibly stupid policy.
