Why wait for the Postal Service? Two children call 911 for Santa
Two young kids in upstate New York weren't going to mess around with slowpoke letters to the big man in the red suit this season.

Instead, they dialed 911.

Police in Kingston responded Sunday to a 911 call from two children, 4 and 6, asking to speak either to the police chief or Santa Claus, according to the Times Herald-Record. It was unclear what they were seeking.

Officers showed up at their home, interviewed the family and instructed the children about the proper use of emergency service.

In other words, it's naughty, not nice.

2. Wow!
Why am I somewhat surprised that their was no SWAT team response with tasing, pepper-spray and such?

It is such a relief to know, these days, that the kids and parents were not cuffed with plastic ties and dragged out of the house trailing blood.

Relief!

5. I would scare those kids. Mildly.
Do you know how many little children might not have Santa visit them because we had to visit your home and find out your call wasn't an emergency? If we have too many 911's that are not emergencies and can't keep Santa's landing on your roof safe Santa might not visit you and other little children.

6. I called 911 when I was a child
this was right after 911 was introduced into my city, late 70s I think it was, maybe 1980. I was no more than 5 or 6. They ran a series of ads on TV, that said something like "If you need help, call 911." My parents didn't always do such a great job of keeping tabs on me. Well, I called 911 and asked for help...cleaning up my room! My parents were thoroughly unamused when 911 called back and gave them a tongue lashing for my abusing the service. So, it is hard for me to be too judgmental about these particular tykes!
