The GOP's idea of intelligence...
Paul Krugman wrote recently that Newt Gingrich is a "stupid person's idea of a smart person". It got me thinking as to how the Republican voter actually determines a good idea or not. I get the sense that Republicans have always been intellectually over-their-heads, so when they hear an idea that doesn't make sense like 999, Reaganonics, getting rid of child labor laws... they assume it's because it's a really good idea and so smart they can't figure it out. Instead, of course, realizing that their policies are insane and they're being duped.

1. Krugman has said a lot of very smart things,
but "Newt Gingrich is a stupid person's idea of a smart person" tops that distinguished list.

2. If it wasn't for Dunning and Kruger
The lack of self-awareness among the stupid could be called the Gingrich effect.

3. Well, the GOP's version of intelligence --
I wouldn't say that the GOP's views include actual ideas.

4. Krugman's right.
He's basically a fraud. It will be interesting to see, should he get the nomination, the debates against Obama. "Faking it" can only get you so far. None of the other republican nominees are able to call him on it.
