6. He sounds wonderful, but
gays and lesbians don't have to raise perfect children, and don't have to be perfect parents. They just need to be "good enough" parents, like everyone else.

46. THANK YOU
Pardon me for shouting, but after seeing this video no less than 8 time son my Facebook page, and now here again, I want to scream out what you just said over every rooftop. Just like women "have to be" better than men to get ahead... um no, actually, all you have to do is be yourself, so the best you can, and stay out of other people's way.

56. I saw some leaving, but what I noted more were the supporters who struck me as BURSTING!!!
in admiration and pride. They thrilled me as much as he did .... with his incredible presence and confidence and earnest . How persuasive. I am so impressed.

If the ones leaving were seated they could have been congresspeople if that was a congressional hearing - they always do that - come and go endlessly. It might have been a small room.

36. If that was the case there would be no reason to campaign for recognition of gay marriage, I think.
Marriage is a formal contract formalising relationship, not the relationship itself. An unhappily-married couple are just as married as one with the qualities you list, and no matter how solid a relationship is it's not a marriage unless it's been formalised in some form - almost always a legal wedding ceremony, although some couples choose to get married without the involvement of the state.

Gay couples can and often do, as demonstrated, have all the things you list. What they *can't* currently have in most of the USA, but should have, is things like next-of-kin status and the right to share pensions.

23. There has never been a valid reason...
...to oppose marriage equality or gay and lesbian parents raising, adopting or taking in foster kids.

We've made a lot of progress on this front. I can see it all around me. The forces of hate are really losing this battle in a big way and it is a remarkable and joyous thing to see.

25. My sister and her wife adopted a baby last year
And she's the cutest baby ever! They got her as a newborn, and she just turned one in Sept. She is one lucky kid - my sister and her partner are really good parents and the love is really there.

We were both adopted (by straights!) and always, always, always knew we were wanted and loved. That obviously rubbed off on my sister. The standing joke in our family is that the lesbian is the one who made our parents grandparents. The straight, married one (me) is childless by choice.

51. no because i'm not saying gay couples are bad parents. youre misunderstanding my post
im saying that parenting good or bad can come from heterosexual or homosexual parents. like i said good and bad parenting knows no color or sexual orientation. and btw i didnt have to search for that i still remember when it happend.p.s. im not trying to pick a fight and definitely not disparaging homosexual parents

52. That's true but heterosexuals aren't the ones being prevented from getting married to each other.
Part of the reason, gay couples are denied this right is the belief about adverse influence on the children being raised by them.

This young man; raised by two lesbians makes a compelling case to the contrary, heterosexuals face no such challenge.

It is not that same-sex parents would be better parents, it is that their sexual orientation does not matter.

"It is not that same-sex parents would be better parents, it is that their sexual orientation does not matter."

that is exactly my point. there are good same-sex parents there are good opposite sex parents. there are bad same-sex parents and there are bad opposite-sex parents.

57. It goes without saying - but why would you interject that tidbit into an OP
that does NOT assert that lesbians are better parents? I think you had an alternative motive/agenda for doing so. Heterosexual couples are able to legally marry and be parents, and homosexual couples are often not legally allowed to marry or adopt children. They are at a disadvantage because of that and now Iowa is considering amending their constitution so they legally stay at a disadvantage. How does what you posted help? It doesn't - it is your "evidence" that they shouldn't be parents.

Your post is incredibly dishonest. Just more right wing nonsense on this board.
