It is miserably hot here in Indianapolis...still 90 degrees at 1 am. Any breeze feels like a blast from an open furnace.

Check on the elderly and ill, or anyone else who may be alone. Make sure they are ok. Offer to run to the grocery for them. Deliver a pitcher of homemade ice tea or lemonade.

If you are running your AC, invite them over. Many folks won't turn down their own thermostat, because they can't afford the extra utility cost. Maybe invite them to stay for supper, while you're at it.

In other words...be excellent to one another. :)

Have a good weekend and stay well, Friends.

1. Ninety degrees at 1am? You'all call that hot?
Well, it got hot early here in Texas, too -- although it has cooled off recently. Just another little weird-weather-pattern gift from global warming.

3. I hope that you're getting a break from the heat. We are
here and there was a strange substance falling from the sky that we hadn't seen in about a month.;-)

Last Weds. or Thurs. we had a bizarre straight line wind event that tore stuff all to hell, but utility poles, etc. are getting repaired and my spouse will be home this evening for a change. :woohoo:

I'll admit that I was shocked when I heard the number of heat related deaths reported in the news yesterday - around 22 IIRC. Stay well. :hi:

4. And in that number...
There is one idiot not too far from me that left his baby in a car. She didn't make it. :(

Yet another idiot, also not so far from me, left their toddler in the car while she shopped at a second hand store for over an hour. After the window was broken, the temperature was still 120+ degrees inside the car. That baby is still touch and go.

What a shame there are so many stupid people.

5. That is so sad and I've never been able to wrap my head around
parents who do that. I was afraid to leave my kids in the car thinking that someone would break a window and snatch one of them or as they grew older that one would get out of the carseat, unlock the door and get out of the car.

Those poor babies.

I believe I heard the number at 60 this morning and I'm trying to round up links for that. Here's one that is over the number I mentioned earlier. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post_now/post/heat-related-deaths-climb-to-31-in-dc-md-va/2012/07/10/gJQAxA7TbW_blog.html

I'll look around for more as I have time. My thoughts are with all of those affected, but especially the 'touch and go' baby.

6.  I heard about that.
The one baby was eventually upgraded to fair. The one idiot is still in jail, and the other idiot bonded out.

Stupid people indeed.
