Willard Mitt Gecko 2012!
Edited on Sun Jul-15-12 02:32 AM by No Elephants
Heard something astute on TV.

"Romney has had to spend the week defending his business experience, which was supposed to be his biggest selling point."

Of course, Romney's business experience was supposed to be his biggest selling point. His only selling point really.

His "performance" as Governor of my state and his entire political career, starting with campaigning on being more liberal than Ted Kennedy, is nothing to brag about, to say the least.

Lord knows, his charisma is not going to get him elected.

Nor is his "military" career of deferments during war time.

Nor is his record of good deeds, apart from those he may have devoted to the Mormon Church and Utah. (Then again, he may even have made money for himself "saving the Olympics," as he so grandiosely puts it. Since he has only provided one year in a row of disclosure, we just don't know.)

However, Willard Mitt Romney was indeed gobstoppingly sucessful at business. (Yes, a rich influential daddy does help, but still.)

Contrast that with the President. Apart from a puzzling year at Business International Corporation and being a director on the boards of some wealthy not for profit boards, courtesy of Ayers, Obama has no business experience at all.

Given that this election's biggest issue may well be "the economy, stupid" (again), lack of business experience could be seen as Obama's biggest liability, especially when up against a man who made several hundred million dollars via business.

The Rovian way.

Step One. Determine what may be your client's biggest liability. Possibly, oh, I don't know...evading the draft via your daddy's ability to get you into the Texas Air National Guard (not to be confused with the National Guard) and then deserting, rather than take a drug test. Then starting two wars in your first term as President for other people's kids to die and be maimed in.

Step Two. Determine what may be the opposition's biggest correlating asset. Possibly, oh, I don't know...a lifetime of service to the United States, starting with military service and several purple hearts. Very, very inconvenient, especially in light of Step One.

Step Three. Turn the opposition's biggest correlating asset into such a huge liability that no one on the other side ever dare mention Step One. Meanwhile, wave the flag and "family values" as often as possible.

Step Four. Smirk as you watch your client's second Presidential swearing in ceremony.

Glad to see that Democrats are catching on.

Point is, Obama can say he staked his career on Americans and American jobs while Romney staked his career on stashing money he made in the U.S. in foreign bank accounts and eliminating American jobs. And on secrecy and secretive measures, such as refusing to disclose and transferring assets to his wife's name.

I like it.

Mitt Gecko 2012!

Now, if only someone would leave a document with justified margins on Dan Rather's desk so that some Democratic blogger could "discover" it is a fake....

2. yeah, it happens. I like your post though. hit mittens on his supposed strength. he surely
isn't getting elected based on his charisma or his vietnam deferment, or a host of other failings, and his supposed strength is his biggest weakness if focused upon.

3. Make you money in the U.S., then send it offshore, along with jobs.
What a patriot!

You can tell he's very patriotic because he wears a U.S. flag lapel pin (I'm guessing) and has recently begun to sing American anthems, albeit very poorly.

4. LOL... the body of your text sounds like a comment Peter Griffin would say on
Family Guy, where they show Peter as naive and gullible and he says things are a certain way because of how they appear (as opposed to how they really are, of course).
