I so agree with you on this, kentuck!
We handcuffed ourselves to the wrong issues and the wrong contituency because politicians of both major parties think that money is the only thing that wins elections. Also, because the lobbyists are taking good care of them and their families between elections.
And, after they lose an election, or drop out of politics because their polls tell them they will lose, they get very well paying jobs by becomong lobbyists themselves.
There is supposed to be a waiting period before they do that, but, apparently, former Senators can ignore that, along with tax laws and still get considered for a cabinet position. Just ask Tom Daschle. After all, isn't that what being well-connected means?
If Senator Sanders looks for a job when his political career ends, will the 99% offer him one? After all, he has been representing them better than any other modern era Senator.
Even nader has given up on the lobbyist issue, suggesting that citizens hire their own lobbying firm.
And, some blame does go to us because we have stood for it for so long.
