While the blue team's candidate is (again) running against a red team candidate that is very rich, it has become convenient to put down the rich. However, that has certainly not always been the case with Democrats. And, as we can see, they are having a lot more trouble with it than rich guy FDR ever had.

In Lincoln's Day, Democrats were the party of the rich, as well as the pro slavery party. Then, Democrats became the party of the working person and Republicans became the party of the coupon clippers. And now, politicians of both parties are minions of plutonomy.
