Romney "Join me in welcoming the next president of the United States, Paul Ryan!"
Edited on Sat Aug-11-12 09:01 AM by Divine Discontent
And beyond the funny flub, what was actually disgusting was that music they played when mittens came off the US Navy ship (nice propaganda to imply he served in the military or is the Commander in Chief, all with glorious trumpeting blaring as he made his way down) was laughable, and equally loud and comical when Ryan came out.

Ryan says he's happy to join the, "American comeback team". LOL, okay, right.

If by, "American", Ryan's referring to the 1%, then yeah, he's part of the comeback team, except they don't need a comeback.
They're already crushing the working class and the very poor to pieces...

He said Romney's courageous enough to tell Americans the truth (austerity is what they are gonna try and sell! who wants that instead of holding the rich fairly accountable?)

Awww... look, Mitt brought one of his kids up with him to campaign!

1. This guy seems a decade younger than Obama & it feels like he's campaigning for his granpa!
Edited on Sat Aug-11-12 09:07 AM by Divine Discontent
A lot of older folks (decades older than me) will have to be a little concerned at him being in his early 40s.

And they said, "Obama flubbed too, when introducing Biden". yeah, but Obama stopped before he even said Joe Biden, and repeated the correct title, Vice President. Mitt went through with his statement, only correcting himself after (possibly being told you screwed up Mitt) Ryan had came on stage.

2. They spoke to an audience of paid shills and the press said nary a word about that, as usual.
Edited on Sat Aug-11-12 09:39 AM by No Elephants
Schieffer called it a very successful event.

Yes, if you get all the cheerleading from the crowd you paid good money for, I guess you can call that a success. Of course, Democrats do it, too, but that is not the point. The point is, it's the media's job to point things like that oout to the audience.

Well, I guess they get to run on hope and change this go round.

Aas well as telling us the hard "truths" about what trouble we are in and what addiational sacrifices the 99% are going to have to make while the rich get more tax cuts.

Meanwhile, the headline I posted here yesterday was the economic equivalent of "It's the end of the world as we know it." The article used terms like "death spiral" and, in particular, U.S. debt was cited. (Which is it, "Deficits don't matter" or "America's debt is going to end America as we know it?")

BAH!

As far as the gaffe, before I even knew about that, I posted on woo me with science's thread here that this may be more about Ryan 2016 than it is about Romney Ryan 2012.

4. yes, NE, Ryan's interesting lil comment about them saying Mitt will tell them the truth about how
things are, meaning - austerity for you working class peasants, while the rich get massive tax cuts! Pres Obama should spend half his time talking about what a Romney austerity budget would do to everyone who isn't 1%.

3. P.S. Romney had his loving facial expression going the time Ryan spoke.
Edited on Sat Aug-11-12 09:37 AM by No Elephants
it's the very same one he uses when he is in camera range when Ann is speaking.

His acting is so bad, he should just have several photographs made up.

1. Romney's "Someone said something about me during a debate that insulted me and now I am very angry and going to seem very tough" expression.

2. Romney's "The person I am gazing at, the who is saying wonderful things about me is the best, smartest, most believable person on the planet" expression.

3. Romney's "I am a man of the people--a man of 'you people,' in particular" expression, when he is among Republican potential voters and/or paid shills who are applauding him..

4. Romney's "That's not at all important, just a tad annoying" expression, as when asked a question by a reporter that is not a total meatball question.

Then, he could put each one on a stick and put his choice in front of his face whenever appropriate. Masks and his bad acting would about equally unconvincing. However, masks would save him trying to change the expression in his two dimensional face, which seems painful for him. (I am nothing if not humane.)

13. OMG. Melissa Harris Perry said today that Ryan is loaded with charisma.
She and I must have very different concepts of charisma or very different impressions of Ryan, or both.

To me, he could not seem more cold blooded and ruthless and self-superior. Maybe she considers that an improvement over wooden Romney, but I don't. And charisma? Yes, if you found Simon Legree and pre-visitation Ebenezer Scrooge charismatic.

I am not a fan of Melissa Harris Perry anyway.

14. me neither. not a fan of hers. and I find nothing 'charismatic' about Ryan. He sounded like an
11th grade student giving a speech in front of his class... not someone that could be 1 spot away from leading the country in 5 months...

8. Maybe Rmoney is going to retroactively not run for president
and let Ryan take over on day one? Or at least telling his 1% pals that this is the deal, so fork over the cash for a massive disinformation campaign...

10. yeah, a freudian slip. honestly, I don't trust mittens so nothing would surprise me.
Rmoney is just trying to get in to make tens of billions for him and his cronies by being president, and he'd let Ryan run things (into the ground).

12. Ooops. Turned out Obama did something similar and George Steph made sure to show it this morning.
Obama: "The next President Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden."

He corrected himself immediately.

Goerge Steph is such a turd.
